This time last weekend, I was surrounded by an incredible cast and crew, all laser-focused on creating top-notch work.
To think this unfolded because I asked the writer/director (@braythirteen) to shoot some footage of me riding my motorcycle. 😜💫
Did I know he watched me on TV as a youngster? No—but gotta love it. 😜
Did I know he had this sweet little film brewing? Not a clue.
What a joy working with @dukeaugie @the_brianmichael & @zandertorres at a killer location > @onfiregarage.🙌🏼🔥🩵
@braythirteen — you’re an awesome #storyteller, a bad-ass #director, & I’m incredibly grateful to have had this experience with you.🙌🏼🥰
@christophercpearson —known you a long time—had a blast working in your light.👊🏼✌🏼
@twojaydhillon —you are strong like bull gliding around with that beast of a camera on you.👊🏼
@lostone_1981 — your tireless work was incredibly appreciated.
@yasodic w/ @cotumedia —you simply rock.
Can’t wait to see this making the film festival rounds.🔥🩵 #TheBookClub #shortfilm #makingmovies 💫💫💫

Post cards from LA: A Dream Come True

This has been a goal of mine going back almost 10 years and the stars finally aligned. The wonderful human and genius that is @braythirteen created this amazing short film called The Book Club and I cannot wait for you all to see this. Eternally grateful to Billy and the entire team for this opportunity. Getting to work with crazy gifted cast ( @yvettenipar @the_brianmichael @dukeaugie @zandertorres ) and capture live moments and the in between was amazing.

Still trying to put together all of my words and what I want to say about this experience and that will come later. For now, enjoy these post cards where you’ll see a little glimpse of some the magic that was captured last weekend. Last slide is CRAZY and it was shot by @lostone_1981

Thank you @braythirteen, @cotumedia @thnklabproductions @lostone_1981

Anytime I’m in LA I make sure to spend time with my cousin @djboolix 🫶🏿🫶🏿🫶🏿 It was good having the chance to watch a basketball game and of course get some In & Out 🙌🏿 Shot on iPhone

They’re burning books. We’re making movies.

Nothing fills my cup more than working with people I love on projects I care about and I’m still full 3 days later.

When @braythirteen came to me with this fantastic concept for The Book Club, a cautionary tale about authoritarianism and the importance of protecting our art. I was all in. I loved helping him dig into the story, carve out who we were following and what they meant. I was honored that he trusted my voice enough to allow me to add it to his vision as one of the characters and in the development.

I’m so proud of him. He put every moment, every cent, every ounce of pride into making this happen, and brought together people who don’t just have talent, they believe in what we’re telling and were willing to give it all to make it great. I was inspired by everyone I worked with on that set.

I can’t wait for ya’ll to see this one!

The first six photos are present day, and the last four are from somewhere around 2007–2011. Back then, my buddy Twojay and I met in college during a film business course. During the class break, he saw me reading a book and randomly asked if I wanted to go grab coffee, and somehow that turned into years of friendship. We were both passionate about film, so we talked about movies constantly, went to clubs, took nature hikes, wandered cities, and made a lot of cool unforgettable memories together. Life eventually pulled us in different directions. He built an incredible career working in film, which meant constant travel, long hours, and nonstop productions, and well, you know how life goes when people get busy, move farther away, and before you know it, years pass. Even though we would still occasionally check in over the years, but somehow the last time we actually saw each other in person was 2014, but we now finally reconnected in person. We spent the day walking Main Street in Napa with Luci and Chappie (his dog), two dogs that honestly look more like little cows than dogs, grabbing a beer, Mexican food, coffee, and talking for hours the way old friends catching up do. At one point, while walking past a fancy restaurant, a guy suddenly came outside and asked us, “Would your dogs like some salami and cheese?” Later on we started laughing about it and joked, “Only in Napa do they come out and serve charcuterie to your dogs,” and somehow that small random moment perfectly captured the warmth and ease of the whole day. These kinds of moments feel rare now, which makes them so meaningful. I’m really grateful for this friendship and hopefully it won’t take another 12 years before we do it again. Love ya, Two!
