Year 9 of the race 🙌🏾 The pictures tell a story but you had to have been there to feel the love, the joy, the community. This race is an experience like none other.
I walked most of the race this year and thought I would be irritated because my fitness wasn’t where I wanted it to be.
I had the best time on the course just taking it all in. We the Black people are an amazing, beautiful, talented group. I love us 👊🏾

THE RACE: DAY PARTY. Big shoutout to @twojewels for organizing the day party after The Race. From Sacramento, Albany, the DMV, New York City, Houston, Cincinnati, Little Rock, Los Angeles and everywhere else, we came together to enjoy some good food and fellowship. The laughs, the discussions, the hugs, and the love overall was REAL and we had an amazing time. #theraceuc2026

Before The Race… there was a call to action.
One post. One vision.
And hundreds answered.

Team Takedown brought together 500+ African American marathoners and turned 18 weeks of training into a movement.

They didn’t just run…
they shifted the narrative and made running look like us.
That same energy?
It’s rooted in The Race today.

We give them their flowers 💐
Because The Race was built by those bold enough to take it down first.
