The Salisbury Rowan Farmers Market is located at the Rail Walk pavilion in the Arts District of Downtown Salisbury. You’ll find it buzzing every Saturday morning from 8 am to 12 pm through the season, which starts in April. They have live music, a coffee truck, flowers, produce, local meat, honey, baked goods and even antiques!

Some highlights for me:

You’ll find so many local farms there

Thank you to our local #farmers and #growers we were able to showcase in our #farmtotable this past weekend! #localfarm beef burgers to raise money for @happyroots_nc came from Rowan County’s Brown Farm Beef, Back Creek Angus, and Hopeful Acres Farm & Gardens.

The other ingredients were curated by local chefs in our @newsarumbrewing #VIPtent managed by Happy Roots Chef @ancoble87. Each course was paired with New Sarum beers and highlighted their brews in unique sauces and dressings. Thanks to guest chefs Heather Teeter of Sweet Meadow Cafe for the 2pm course and Chef John Wilson of @sophies_cork_and_ale for the entree also paired with @childresswines

When given enough space pigs do their business in one place, a friend told me about a hoop structure he encountered and the pigs just pooped in one corner. I would have picked that up daily and put it in a compost pile. The goats would have done everything in that hay.

This #thoughtfulthursday I want to take a minute to talk about Community. This is something that I’ve learned a lot about since starting this business.

The people that work on my team, the people we share our kitchen with, the folks that show up every week in the rain, cold or heat, the people that put together and manage the Farmer’s Markets. The farmers that grow the food that we use. I’d like to thank every one of those because each is such an important part of this business.

Starting and running a small business is a challenge to say the least. But the community is what it’s all about. Bringing people together around food and that food bringing a little bit of comfort to someone is exactly what we’re trying to do.

Despite all the bad in the world and the hard things we have to go through, there are many good people doing good things.

What a great market day! Yes, a bit chilly and some strange little pockets of rain…but we enjoyed the sunshine when we had it!

Even though we are in the midst of yet another season change, we still have so much deliciousness to share with you. Did you know we have gifts for the furry friends in your life? Swipe and check the tagged vendors for more!
