The imagery of riding through the night, entering the fight, and ignoring the warning signs fits the journey of Aemond through war, especially as his anger and desire for control grow even more. His missing eye is one of the clearest physical reminders of the child he used to be and of the moment that fundamentally changed him. Showing his sapphire eye to Luke at that moment connects the reckless man he becomes with the wounded child he once was. Then the pre-chorus completely changes the perspective.
