TEXAS HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL EXPLAINED 🏀

Three governing bodies run Texas high school basketball, and the difference between them changes what a season is worth. 🔑

UIL covers public schools, 6A through 1A, with every class split into Division I and Division II — 12 boys champions and 12 girls champions crowned at the Alamodome each March.

TAPPS covers private and parochial schools, also 6A through 1A in basketball, with six champions per gender and a state tournament in Waco.

SPC is independent private schools in two divisions, decided over a single championship weekend. Two champions per gender. No state bracket.

Twelve, six, two. Same sport, three different definitions of a title. 🏆

And the map moves — TMI Episcopal and Saint Mary's Hall leave TAPPS for SPC this year. Full breakdown in the carousel, including how transfer eligibility differs between them. 👀
