Here are some clips from the workout last night. Building reads, reactions, and decisions.

🏀 Playing out of different ball screen coverages
🏀 Attacking the blitz
🏀 Making reads out of Zoom action
🏀 Creating advantages in live situations

When defenses blitz the ball screen, the game speeds up. The best players don’t panic. They recognize the coverage, make quick decisions, hit the short roll, manipulate the tag defender, and punish rotations with the right read. Training these situations live teaches players how to process the game in real time instead of memorizing moves.
Actions like Zoom action, ball screens, slips, ghosts, and short rolls force players to think the game at a higher level. That’s where real IQ is built. The more situations you experience in training, the more adaptable you become when the defense changes coverage in a game.
Great development isn’t just skill acquisition. It’s learning:
• how defenses rotate
• where the help is coming from
• how to create and exploit advantages
• how to make the right read under pressure
The goal is to develop players who can solve problems on the fly. Basketball is a game of adjustments.
Train reads. Train reactions. Train decision making.
That’s what translates. 🎯

Playing off a post touch. Split action, grenade action, and an emphasis on spacing. Read, react, and make the right play. You want to play at a high level? The game is chess, not checkers. IQ>everything 🧠♟️

Last night we played out of Spain PnR. Spain puts pressure on the defense with the ball handler, the roll, and the shooter all involved. When we layer actions, players start to understand what’s available based on how the defense reacts. Can you make the right read in a split second decision? This is how we build IQ within our workouts.

. Decision making
. Spacing and timing
. Adaptability

Really proud of how the guys read the floor and created different looks all night 👊

What you see in these clips are the highlights, but we experienced a lot of failure throughout the night. Wrong reads, bad passes, blown layups. I don’t post those reps, but experiencing the failure/mistakes is an important part of the process! Trust the process and keep building 🧱 by 🧱 💯

Playing out of our “get” action 🏀

A big part of playing out of this action is setting up your cut with pace and deception. A well timed cut can force confusion, create an advantage, or a mismatch. Once we have our advantage attack before the defense can recover.

Players need to be training real game situations and making reads against live defenders. If you’re always doing scripted moves you aren’t training, you’re rehearsing

Tonight we worked on reading the game out of the ball screen 🏀

We started playing with the 3v2 advantage and worked on all of our reads. Then we put it into a live setting against different coverages.

It’s all about pace, angles, and forcing multiple defenders to commit. Make the defense wrong every time. The game slows down when you know what you’re looking for!

Step into the fire 🔥

The pressure, competition, discomfort. That’s where your skills are sharpened. Don’t run from it.
Embrace it.

Greatness is built in the fire 🔥
