Two weeks ago I did my gesamtkunstwerk (a total work of art) CHECK YOUR BLINDSPOTS which was a fashion show + magazine + art exhibition with the brand studios. I started developing the project back in august last year after requiem and since I worked on it practically everyday. Over the course of that year I taught myself fashion design and music production. I remember the main idea at first was that I wanted to create something that felt immersive as I felt like requiem was sort of “flat” being just a 24-page magazine so I sought to make something more experiential. I had essentially treated the show itself as if it were an art exhibition, aiming to make something that felt a bit more experimental/emotional than just a conventional runway. It was a super tiring experience bc I was really the only one producing/directing it but I got the help from the other designers (and my Dad) for choreography and certain structural elements of show, which I aimed to make as like the physical manifestation of the magazine narrative. I’m very proud of it, however, and it’s definitely the most satisfying and personal thing I’ve ever made. I just wanted to use this opportunity to reflect on it all and also thank everyone who was a part of it. I’m truly grateful for everyone helping out and for having an audience I can share this work with. I think I’m done with fashion magazines 🫩, though I do have some more creative projects that I’ve already started that I’m even more excited to share. However, the project was also the most physically and emotionally exhausting thing I’ve ever done, so it will be probably a little while before it’s ready. I’ll be inactive for a while but I will come back eventually to share my other personal projects when I feel they are ready :). I just wanted to give some personal context as the “CYB era” is over now, but thank you again everyone for being part of this. ❤️❤️❤️ I couldn’t tag everyone but also thank you: @bart_asbaker @lilyawnma @satchelmcguire @s.sopy_ @avaastubbss @itisnothaley @rubybercaw @nathan_burak @riotsn0tdiets @_jumpoffabridge @therealcarmenwinsteadd I’ll see you guys soon. :)
