🏃 MEET THE CAST: THE (DISASTER) MARATHON OF 1904

The 1904 St. Louis Olympic marathon was one of the strangest races ever run, and Pheidippides, the original marathoner, is here to tell you all about it. Book by Tyler Joseph Ellis, music and lyrics by Jacob Ryan Smith and Daniel Mertzlufft.

Featuring a gold-medal cast with credits like Hadestown, & Juliet, Gypsy, The Notebook, Waitress, Spring Awakening and Good Night Oscar on Broadway, plus tours of Wicked, Hadestown and Into the Woods. 🏅

I love dance. I love running around between the trees in weird, whimsical ways. And I love making dance on film. It is alchemy of the heart. It feels sacred. 11 years and 21 films in and I am still brimming with excitement for the profound possibilities of this art form.

It means the world to me that these pieces we’ve poured into for years are suddenly finding so many of you. None of this body of dance film work would exist without the best family of ride or die collaborators and the countless sunrises we’ve spent creating together with open hearts. And it would not exist without the other half of @wilderprojectdance, my brilliant brother, @duncanwilder. The beauty of all of our collective magic lives so vibrantly in the work.

I feel deep excitement for the new projects being planted right now and the many connections being forged through our internet meetings. Thank you for being here. I’ve read every comment and message. Connecting with you all means the world to me 🧡 Please keep reaching out to connect and collaborate. This year feels like an endless beginning. It is such a gift to be an artist. I can’t wait for what’s next.
