This is the last straw… Today has been mentally exhausting so I’m going to do a brain dump…

I decided to check out a new clothing warehouse today. Now, I’ve become “use to” seeing those trucks full of textiles passing by en route to the landfill. But I’ve never had to witness the truck being loaded…. until today.

It was a mix of emotions… Obviously the number one thing being the waste aspect. But also, gahhh… what did I miss?! And then… people could use that!!

While I’m glad we have this option of thrifting and such, but what gets done to the clothes that haven’t been sold after awhile is the problem. There are companies out there that recycle textiles, like @for___days …. Orrrr, they can donate leftovers (especially coats and blankets) to local charities or have a community free market day, or community free store (it’s definitely needed). All these people (warehouse owners) have to do is do some research and actually give a damn about the planet and climate crisis!

I’ve also seen an obscene amount of Goodwill tags on these garments. Them and other thrifts aren’t helping the situation, either. I see your overinflated prices😒😒 I also love how thrifts just dump still usable items🙄 Shout-out to @saltystella for her amazing videos that help to expose the wastefulness.

**Resellers are NOT taking everything!!!! There is still PLENTY for everyone… Clearly!**

@officialcityoflaredo needs to do something quickly to create some sort of a textile recycling program. I will be contacting City Council, because I’ve had ENOUGH. I know that if we join forces, we can come up with a solution.

Please book a @laredothriftingtours thrifting tour with me, especially if you are from out-of-town/state. If you are local, I’d love for you to also join me. You can also Google some of these places as well and go on your own time. We can do our part to help divert textile waste!
