Jesus Christ Superstar at Theatre Royal Drury Lane was an absolute joy - loud, bold and electrifying! Sam Ryder and Tyrone Huntley were outstanding, the vocals were phenomenal, and the music still gave me goosebumps. A favourite from my youth that hits just as hard today! ✝️ King Herod and I are Fellow Travellers 😆
Saw @jesuschristsuperstar tonight at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. First time I’ve ever seen it live and the cast gave it everything they had. Sam Ryder was unbelievable - we know he has the vocal range but he can act too. Tyrone Huntley was incredible as Judas too, the power in his voice and scenes with Sam as Jesus were electric. I was meant to see Jesse Tyler Ferguson back in June as King Herod but when I had to move the tickets, there was no one else I wanted to see but Matt Bomer, just a shame he’s on stage for one song and a total of about 4mins!! The cast are so great that I don’t think the show needs to rely on this stunt casting for such a small part to get people into the theatre but here we are, and Glenn Close is doing it in Jan! Was great to meet Matt after at the stage door too. The staging is also wildly impressive yet so simple with audience members able to book tickets to stand at the back and be on stage throughout.

I’m so thrilled to be onstage with this phenomenal cast and ensemble in Sir Andrew Lloyd Weber’s @jesuschristsuperstar at the legendary @drurylaneproductions from Oct 16-31. These are some of the most talented people I’ve ever worked with- and the nicest as well. Hope to see you at the Drury Lane!

Sam Ryder laughs about the moment he “lost control” of his voice during one of his performances in Jesus Christ Superstar.

The Eurovision - and now West End - star admits reaching the high notes in Gethsemane is like trying to control a “rescue dog” that can occasionally do its own thing...

Here’s your reminder to trust the process, let go of the need to control every outcome, and remember that the next opportunity is just around the corner.
