Our miracle baby (born at 22 weeks), nephew Tyson, graduated from High School🎉. We at the #MKEstate are so proud of him. The system tried to put Tyson in special education classes because he has some social challenges but his Momma wasn’t having it.

They always try to disproportionately place black males in special education programs, often due to biases within the education system, including assessments and policies. This can result in misidentification and placement in more restrictive settings. Instead the goal should be to provide all students, including young Black men, with equitable access to quality education and support tailored to their individual needs, not to marginalize them through inappropriate placement. So, my BFF took a stand, she advocated for Tyson and he excelled. All their hard work and dedication finally paid off.

Not only did Tyson do well in high school, his plans are to attend college soon. The lesson here, don’t let teachers and doctors tell you what’s best for your children. Do your own research, seek second opinions, and do what’s best for your child and your family.

Again, we are so Godly proud of Tyson and can’t wait to attend his college graduation as well. That’s the #pondhousetea baby, but you ain’t heard it from me. Shhhh😝
