MY FIRST BATTLE KIZZ EXPERIENCE 👀✨

Coming from a background of dancing since kindergarten and competing in some pretty intense jazz dance competitions in my early teens, battles were something I initially wanted nothing to do with in the kiz scene. The pressure of performing to be judged for something I do because I love it and to express myself artistically would kind of strip it of its fun.

But then I tried seeing it as an opportunity to challenge myself and prove that I’m capable of more than I might sometimes believe. I also knew I needed that little extra push, something to work towards, a set goal that would get me out of my comfort zone in order to practice my solo styling and find my way back to myself again being mostly known for Tarraxo now, even though before that my biggest passion was dancing and teaching Urban Kiz.

And I knew I had to take the first opportunity I got. Not to let the adhd part of my brain get away with saying „We‘ll do it another time.“ Not again.

My goal was simply to make it to the big battle, to get to playfully have a conversation of self expression and share the experience with all of you. Nothing more, nothing less.

In the past, competitions often meant sleepless nights, hard work, losing a little bit of the joy in dancing along the way and facing opponents who wanted nothing more than to see me fail.

And surprisingly - the battle was something entirely different for me.

There was so much kindness. Everyone lifted each other up, shared their nerves and genuinely wished the best for one another while still staying true to themselves and their own performance. It was such a healing experience for me.

Also getting valuable feedback and coaching from the judges taught me so much that I will apply in the next battles.

The level was insanely high, and it was an absolute honour to share the dance floor with everyone, especially my opponent @islamalzhanoff, who was so supportive and kind to me.

I couldn’t have asked for a better first battle experience. I’m leaving with a full heart, a lot of inspiration and so much gratitude for the people who made it what it was. 🤍
