• Sometimes standing firm in your story makes people uncomfortable and that’s okay. Discomfort doesn’t equal harm. We’re reposting our own article, “The Pulse Keeps San Bernardino Connected,” after the last post was taken down at the request of another organization that felt the details didn’t perfectly match up. We are human first, and we give grace to others who do their best, show up, and shine a light on community forces, even when it isn’t perfectly stated. Let’s be clear: we share from lived experience, from love for this city, and from the collective work that’s happening every single day at 479 W. 4th Street and all of the places in SB that our team and collective partners support daily. NO ONE can erase that. We believe in transparency, collaboration, and community effort that uplifts, instead of silencing voices doing the work. We are open to dialogue that calls-in instead of calling-out those who misstep. We acknowledge our own shortcomings and hope that when intention doesn’t match impact, those offended feel comfortable speaking to us directly. We are lifelong learners but most importantly, we care about how it lands on everyone’s hearts.
