@fes_omyv Young Voices Open Minds class on “Religion, Culture, and Politics as Unifying Factors in Nigeria’s Development,” by Mr. @guvyves

The training provided a valuable space to explore how religion, culture, ethnicity, and politics shape our national life, as well as how these identities can either deepen divisions or serve as bridges for unity and development.

I particularly appreciated the emphasis on moving beyond identifying societal challenges to thinking about practical approaches, including affirmative action and strategies for building more inclusive systems.

As the Executive Director of @ominyainitiatives working around peacebuilding, inclusive governance and youth participation, conversations like these continue to strengthen my understanding of the complexities of Nigeria’s diversity and the role young people can play in building a more cohesive society.

Across Africa and around the world, young people are organising, innovating, mobilising and refusing to stay silent while our future is put at risk. From demanding a just transition to clean energy, to leading grassroots campaigns, climate education, digital advocacy and community action, youth are already driving the change we need.

Africa is home to the world’s youngest population, with more than 60% of Africans under the age of 25. Globally, there are 1.8 billion young people, the largest youth generation in history. Imagine the power of that generation when it is included, listened to and equipped to lead.

Young people of faith inclusion matters because climate policies made without young people ignore the very people who will live longest with the consequences. When young people are at the table, we bring urgency, innovation, lived experience and bold solutions.

The fight for climate justice cannot be won without youth.
