Penguins in the colony are safe, but that’s not where the mountains are.

Everyone wants a hammer day but I’m happy to be another nail on the island. One of the most mentally demanding days of sport I’ve had surrounded by some of my best friends and family. The road to the big island was long for me and this was just the champagne on the podium.

Too many people helped along the way. @josephthebrosf gave me the fire and extra heart when I needed it most and @everymanconrad bagging a world podium and for coming back to the island to race with me. Coach @ernie_mantell_fanpage the brofessor himself who’s taught me everything about how to exercise at a moderate intensity for a few hours. @onyerleft.sports for the support, belief and community that has lifted me the past 6 years. It felt like I couldn’t go 200m on Ali’i without someone yelling my name (might’ve just been @maia.watson following legally on the bike) which meant more than anything. Anyone and everyone else, especially all the @uatricats, who I’ve met in training or at races/meets the past 6 years + that was all thanks to you.

Week 1 on the big island 🏝️

Good, bad & ugly days for the team. Coming into this race with 2 hearts and 2 dreams and racing with passion for those who cannot.

First of many‼️🕺

First Ironman 70.3 in the books! When I signed up for this race towards the end of May, I was thinking it would be a fun way to train a lot during the summer, and do something different. I figured I’d be one and done, and that after this race I would go back to marathoning. However, over the course of these past seven weeks, I fell in love with triathlon training and how much you can train without developing an overuse injury doing solely one thing day after day. I am very excited to see how much I can improve in triathlon, given I went 4:53 in a 70.3 on a very hilly bike and run course at ~6500 feet of elevation. I feel I have improved a lot within seven weeks of training for this race, but am super excited to see how much I can improve if I put everything into this sport for months/years on end.

I think I will stick with triathlon for a bit, and still jump into marathons for fun once in a while 👍😊.

Life is good.

Going into year 14 in the sport of triathlon, it’s pretty special to look back at where it all started 🥲🏊‍♀️🚴‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Like most people, my first race setup was far from fancy… beach cruiser bike, my brother’s mountain bike helmet, a CamelBak, and tennis shoes.

Over the years, this sport has given me so much more than finish lines. I’ve met incredible teammates, coaches, mentors, and lifelong friends. People who took the time to teach me, encourage me, motivate me, and believe in me.

At my first group ride, I got dropped before we even left the parking lot, but one sweet teammate stayed with me the entire ride.

My first 70.3? I fueled with half a protein bar and water because I had absolutely no idea what I was doing 😅

Now one of the coolest parts is getting to continue racing while also helping others learn the sport, build confidence, and chase their own goals.

Still loving every part of it ❤️

They call me Ironman.

Not quite the race I wanted to have but I still pulled off almost a 20 min PR. I took what I could get and gave it some more. Here’s to Ironman number 3🤠
