Not a bad "starter office" for a young(ish), aspiring legal academic, if you ask me.... 📚📝✍🏾💯 #Room112

Fun fact about “Call Your Mother.” When we were planning this book’s illustrations, we needed a way to show that the kid was away at college—growing up from that little baby, but still needing her mom! I immediately thought of a college sweatshirt, but didn’t want to use a specific name. Some colleges are polarizing…cough…Duke…and I just thought it might be a little distracting.

So I thought we could do something like “University of…” and obscure the rest of the name. I told the team at @familiusbooks that “University of Baltimore” was my grad school if we wanted to use a few letters from that! So now all of y’all are in the know…”University of Bal” is “University of Baltimore.” Hurray for @ubcreativemfa ! (@ubaltalumni @ubaltmain )

Love the illustrations by @vivian.mineker —swipe to see the next page and the adorable, aging cat!

Class is back in session! Today we had our Spring ‘24 Orientation for the new students in The NextGen program in the Schaefer Center of Public Policy. We have 17 new students enrolled who will be interning for Maryland State Government, Maryland Local Government, & Non Profit Organizations in the State of Maryland 🔥🙏🏾

I’m extremely proud of all the students embarking on their new journey and blessed to be apart of the new pathways they are taking for their careers. Best of luck to all of you for this new Semester! 🐝🙏🏾🤍 #NextGen #Ubalt

#Repost @ubaltmain "When you can see things that others can’t, you have the power to change a life, to change a community and to change the world.... We need the hopes of this class. We need the aspirations of this class.

“And the reason I am confident you’re up to the challenge is because you know what it’s like to see the things nobody else can see–in yourselves and in your communities.”

Thank you @govwesmoore @iamwesmoore for inspiring our fall graduates as the keynote speaker at today’s commencement ceremony. #UBalt

Last night we celebrated our Biannual WoCSA Gala. This semester the theme was Sneakers and these ladies (and gents) didn’t come to play! They showed up, dressed to kill with the sneakers to match! There was so much love, laughter, dancing, karaoke, spoken work and tears to last a lifetime. Stepping down is never easy but I’m sure this org will thrive and continue to grows. WE ARE WoCSA! #wocsa #ubalt

Women of Color Student Association STAND UP! Over this last year, we have challenged ourselves to “speak up,” “say it our chest,” and correct the narrative that “women can't get all.” We joined together in support, love, and our hard work paid off. Congratulations to WoCSA for winning the 2023 Eubie Awards for “Organization of The Year” and “Bee Engaged.” It has been an honor and privilege to serve as president of such a fantastic group of women! ~Nikki💜
