#THETATHURSDAY 🎧🤍🪩

Meet this week’s Theta Thursday feature, Ally (PC’25)! Ally has always been someone who lights up every room she walks into, and we’re so grateful for the love, positivity, and generosity she brings to our chapter. Recently, she’s had the exciting opportunity to host her very own radio show on CiTR at UBC! 📻 Keep reading to hear about this amazing experience!

“My time in Theta has done more for me as a person than I can express in writing. Hosting my own radio show on CiTR has been a super exciting and fulfilling experience, but I would be lying if I didn’t say I was nervous at the start. Having my Theta sisters in my corner being so supportive of this new chapter in my university career has given me the confidence to come into the studio every Friday refreshed and energetic. My big Kaitlin has been my absolute biggest cheerleader, she understands me and always knows what I need to hear. Without her, I would not be the radio show host let alone woman I am today!💛🎶”

We’re so proud of you Ally! <3

This past weekend, our active sisters and alumni got together and celebrated Kappa Kappa Gamma’s founders day 💙⚜️This year marks 156 years since six incredible women in Monmouth, Illinois founded the sisterhood we’re so proud to be part of 💫

Thanks to them, we get to share a bond built on friendship, loyalty, and love that lasts a lifetime 🥹🫶🏻

Biggest shoutout to our amazing VP Internal, @phoebemaierhofer, for organizing such a perfect Founders Day celebration. We couldn’t have done it without you!

#MEETEXECMONDAY 💐🤍⭐️

Meet our wonderful Vice President of Finance, Mikayla! She is in her fourth year at UBC, and she’s studying Economics and Political Science. Mikayla has always been someone that everyone can count on, and she’s brought that same generosity, reliability, and hard work to her role as Theta’s VPF. We’re so grateful to have her on our executive team!!

Here’s what Mikayla has to say about her experience 💫

“I feel so honoured to have been entrusted with the role of Theta’s Vice President of Finance this year. Stepping into this position has been one of the highlights of my time at UBC, giving me the opportunity to apply what I’ve learned through my economics degree while growing as a leader and building confidence in myself and my abilities. More than anything, Theta has brought some of the most incredible women into my life, whose ambition, kindness, and encouragement constantly inspire me to be the best version of myself. I’m so grateful for the friendships, memories, and personal growth that this experience has brought me. The relationships I’ve built through Theta are what I’ll cherish most and carry with me long after graduation.”

We love you Mikayla! 💌

#NewMemberMonday with one of our amazing New Members, Lana🩵🗝️

She is from Edmonton and is studying food, health, and nutrition!

This is what she has to say about going Kappa…
“Moving away from home I didn’t really know what to expect at UBC and I remember looking around the first day of jumpstart completely lost. I knew I wanted to branch out and meet new people, but I didn’t really know where to start. Learning about sororities, and specifically walking into the Kappa chapter room, I felt instantly at ease and knew things would be just fine. I truly felt so loved and uplifted by all the amazing, intelligent women at Kappa that leaving the chapter room felt like saying goodbye to a family I had yet to know.

My time so far in Kappa has been nothing short of incredible. It is truly an environment that fosters so much love and appreciation, I never feel like I am alone. Whether I’m looking for a dining hall date, or driving home from a late cheer practice, a Kappa will always be there to keep me company. I have already laughed so hard that I couldn’t breathe, ugly cried my makeup off, and sang my heart out with such incredible women that I may have never met without Kappa. I genuinely cannot wait for more amazing moments with KKG that I know I will cherish forever 🩵”

We love you Lana!

why alpha gam ?

Coming to UBC felt like navigating into a completely unfamiliar world where I had to build everything from scratch. Getting along with people who already had friends here or groups they belonged to was a challenge - and that was an experience I wanted to capture. I did not just want to find people I could spend time with but create those meaningful relationships that would go beyond these 4 years.

My entire life, I have always surrounded myself with people who are driven, focussed and, above all support each other no matter what, and that’s what drew me in AGD. Everyone is not just academically driven, but offer things beyond what meets the eye. They’ve made me feel welcomed and cherished, and provided me with a safe space I could call a second home. I’ve made so many memories in just a short time and cannot wait for what being an AlphaGam will bring as the time goes on 🤍

A few weeks ago, our Ritual and History Director @leia.oleksyn was given the opportunity to travel to Nashville and join our other Kappa sisters at a Kappa leadership academy! 💙✨

Here is what she has to say about her experience…

“I have always felt a strong connection to my chapter at UBC, but before Leadership Academy, I had never really thought about my connection to Kappa beyond my own chapter. Going to Leadership Academy without knowing anyone was definitely nerve-wracking, but leaving with so many new and genuine friendships made it one of the most heartwarming experiences of my life. The moment I got on the plane and saw other girls wearing our letters, I immediately felt a sense of comfort and belonging. It was such a special reminder that Kappa is so much bigger than just my chapter at UBC.

Love & Loyally,
Leia”
