From October 7-9, Festival MIL welcomes the artists, local facilitators, and partners of Slash Transition, who spent the past four years exploring the role of sound artists in territories undergoing transformation.

The French delegation includes Überkeine aka Louis Naudin, a fearless explorer of techno’s densest and roughest margins; and Fanch Dodeur, a musician and sound artist who incorporates images and data analysis tools and methods into his compositions.

[Link in bio] We followed sound artist Louis Naudin / @uberkeine during his month-long residency in Innsbruck, where he developed his site-specific project "Collective Commotion" as part of SLASH Transition @slash_platform @slashtransition_innsbruck.
Working from a temporary studio at St. Bartlmä, Louis explored the relationship between sound, place, memory and community.

🎤 One month after the residency, we met him again online to reflect on his artistic process, his time in Innsbruck, and what stayed with him after leaving.

Echoing the SLASH Transition Artist Residency of Louis Naudin / @uberkeine (FR), who spent the first weeks of summer in Innsbruck as part of the SLASH Transition EU Project, hosted by @openspace_innsbruck

Focusing on the area in transition of St. Bartlmä, Louis worked from his temporary studio in Halle 1 while listening, observing, researching, and connecting with the people, stories, and everyday life of the site.

Through this process, he developed a deep appreciation for this post-industrial territory in transition—a place of vital importance not only for the communities who are active there, but also for the future of Innsbruck’s cultural landscape.

Imagining St. Bartlmä as a ghost waiting to be embraced, Louis became the good ghost of St. Bartlmä himself.

We miss you…

For the 3rd edition of Listening Café @bartibae_ , Überkeine, current resident of @slashtransition_innsbruck @snktbrtlm , and Journey Program, member of @_inseminoid___ and @zunder_festival , will share their music with us. Überkeine will have a split set — one part explaining workflows and synthesis techniques on his modular synthesizer, and the other half presenting some personal gems. Journey Program will guide us through a two-decade-long, narrative journey into a wonderful world of speechlessness.

For the past two weeks, Louis Naudin @uberkeine ( Paris, France) has been based in Innsbruck as part of SLASH Transition – Artist in Residence, organized by @openspace_innsbruck, developing a new audiovisual work that brings together techno sound, space, storytelling, and community.

The project engages with the St. Bartlmä area and is rooted in a simple yet urgent observation: evolving identity of this unique place and the interconnected layers of its heritage, contemporary reality, challenges and it’s potential.
Through sound and collective experience, Louis explores these layers of connection and transformation.

Working from a temporary studio in Halle 1, Louis has been collecting recordings, capturing signals, and deconstructing and reconstructing sounds that resonate with the site’s environment. These recordings form the sonic foundation of the work, are now evolving into basslines, drones, textures, and rhythms that allow the place itself to speak through the composition. Through continuous processing, manipulation, and resampling, these elements develop into the distinctive sonic language.

A special thank you goes to the St. Bartlmä community, with whom Louis has shared his everyday life throughout the residency. Their openness, stories, and way of inhabiting the space have become one of the greatest sources of inspiration for his work.

Final presentation on July 9. at @openspace_innsbruck ⚡️⚡️More info coming soon!
