In the lunar calendar, Dhul Hijjah occurs at the end, making it the last month of the Islamic year. This month is extremely important as Allah (SWT) has immensely blessed it. The Believers who engage in good practices and avoid sins are eligible in obtaining these many blessings and rewards.

Its significance derives from the fact that Allah (SWT) has blessed it with containing holy events such as the pilgrimage of Hajj and the festival of the blessed sacrifice, Qurbani Eid ul-Adha.
Many people are unaware of the virtues the first ten days of Dhul Hijjah hold and that they are better than any day within the year.

Dhul Hijjah is an opportunity Allah (SWT) granted for the believers so they can continue to prosper, even after the holy month of Ramadan, allowing a continuation of immense rewards gained, spiritual growth, increased devotion to Allah (SWT), and forgiveness of sins.

Due to the significance of Dhul Hijjah, it is of utmost importance that Muslims avoid engaging in sinful and spiritually harmful actions, especially during the first 10 days.

However, it is important to remember that if one’s parents demand that one should do something contrary to the shari’ah, then one must respectfully refrain from such actions, as the obedience of Allah swt is the first priority.

Fourteen Rights of Parents
Maulana Abraarul Haqq (rahimahullah) has mentioned 14 points regarding the rights of parents (7 points regarding fulfilling their rights during their lifetime and 7 points regarding fulfilling their rights after their demise).

Seven rights during their lifetime:

1. Azmat: To respect them.
2. Muhabbat: To have love and affection for them.
3. Itaa’at: To obey them.
4. Khidmat: To serve them.
5. Fikr-e-Raahat: To grant them ease and comfort.
6. Raf-e-Haajat: To take care of all their needs.
7. To visit them often.

Seven rights after their demise:

1. Dua-e-Magfirat: To beg Allah Ta’ala for their forgiveness and to shower His special mercy upon them.
2. Esaal-e-Sawaab: To regularly convey sawab (reward) to them (by giving out sadaqah, doing nafl ibadah, etc., and conveying the reward to them).
3. Ikraam-e-A’izzah wa Ahbaab wa Ahl-e-Qaraabat: To respect and honor their relatives, friends, and associates.
4. I’aanat-e-A’izzah wa Ahbaab wa Ahl-e-Qaraabat: To assist and help their relatives, friends, and associates according to your ability and means.
5. Adaa-e-Dain wa Amaanat: To pay off their debts and to return any trust.
6. Tanfeez-e-Jaaiz Wasiyyat: To execute their permissible bequest.
7. To visit their graves often.

Obeying your parents is your way to Jannah! May Allah swt guide us all to the right path. Ameen

Reading the Quran is healing for your soul. Whenever you want to talk to Allah swt, seek help in prayer and whenever you want to hear Allah swt, read the Quran.

Allah swt created you and no one can love you more than him. Whoever reads the Qur’an knows that he is merciful and even forgives the sins of his servants with one tear of repentance.

The books of this world may help you in many ways but none of them can benefit you as much as the Quran. Read the Qur’an because it brings you closer to Allah swt. It is the link between Allah and his servants.

The practice of the month of Ramadan that can be done other than fasting is to read and complete the Qur'an. The moment of Ramadan is one of the right moments to make a routine and exaggerate in reading the Qur'an.

Although Allah constantly showers His mercy, love and blessings upon us throughout the year, there are certain times of the year wherein He is even more generous to us. These are the special seasons, days and moments in which it is even easier to acquire His pleasure, earn His forgiveness and be saved from the Hell-fire.

The blessed month of Ramaḍān is one such season when we witness the fruits of Allah’s love and kindness.

Be from those who are pleased with Ramaḍān and are eager to strive in it. Show Allah how happy you are with His special month through your intention, worship and desire for reward. Be not from those who become miserable with Ramaḍān’s arrival and feel ‘forced’ to fast its days.

May Allah swt accept our efforts and allow us to make the most of this blessed month. Ameen!
