To Black UC Class of 2026. I am forever proud of each and every one of you. Seeing majority of you walk across that stage made my heart so happy and joyful. The growth from the day you walked in to the day you walked out has been beautiful to witness. Thank you for allowing me to be a part of your journey. I know these last 4-5 years have been far from easy but last weekend was a testament that you are resilient and can conquer whatever life throws at you. Love you all dearly and can’t wait to see what’s to come next for each of you. 🎉🥹❤️ Ms. Jackie is officially clocked out ✌🏾

Miss Black and Gold Scholarship Pageant - Contestant (2022) and Coach (2024-2026) Jordyn's favorite memory during her time as a student at UC was "one of the very first I made as a student—Freshman Early Arrival with the AACRC Transitions Program. Although I was nervous about all the unknowns that come with starting college, those first few days eased so many of those anxieties through the bonds I began to build with my peers and the program’s mentors. As freshmen, we didn’t really know what to expect, but we quickly realized we could lean on one another, and many of those friendships have only grown stronger over time. Shoutout Creative Energy!" Introducing Mr. Kuamka Candidate #1, Michael Oteng. Michael is a self-disciplined 3rd year originating from Columbus, OH, majoring in Digital Media Collaborative with a minor in Media Production. Growing up, he developed a passion for creativity and performance early on, participating in choir, drums, band, and reading various graphic novels, as well as engaging in his church community. In high school, he maintained a 3.5 GPA or higher for five consecutive semesters, earning multiple academic honors. At UC, Michael began his college journey through the transitions program and the UC’s African Student Association (UCASA) mentorship program which connected him with upperclassman mentors that inspired him to later step into leadership roles himself. He also extended his commitment to service beyond campus by volunteering with the African American Male Wellness Agency Walk, partaking in sandwich-making drives, and the black student graduation ceremony, Tyehimba. Throughout student leadership, he went on to serve as Secretary for the UC’s Ghana Student Association (UCGSA) that allowed him to share his Ghanaian heritage on campus and worked as a student worker at the former African American Cultural Resource Center. Currently, he contributes to leadership roles as part of the Men’s Committee for Curled Collective, Secretary for UC’s Heroes, and Treasurer for Reel Roots Production. Recognized on the Dean’s List three times with a certificate in Basic Hebrew, he has shown commitment to academic excellence. Michael aspires to become an art illustrator with the goal of establishing his own art studio, expanding his creative horizons, and supporting emerging artists through mentorship and shared experiences.
