Your first meet with a new athlete is always special.

You go in not really knowing what to expect. You don't know how they'll handle nerves, how they'll respond to makes and misses, or what competition brings out of them mentally.

You learn a lot about each other when you're put in places of adversity and vulnerability. It's one of my favorite parts of the coach-athlete relationship

@irenenava_ absolutely smashed her first competition with us at @riseweightlifting_wg.

After more than a year away from competition and dealing with lower back herniations, she came back weighing in the lightest she's ever been, took 1st place, tied her PR total, hit a 1 kg PR clean and jerk, and went 6 for 6 on the platform.

I'm super proud of the way she competed but also really proud of the team we're continuing to build at @riseathletics_wg.

Huge shout-out to @zachdangel, our athletic trainer, who has been working with Irene on rehabbing her lower back so she can come back not only strong but healthy too.

Very excited to see what the next competition brings 🔥💪🥇

🥇 First place at my first USAW meet!

Snatch:
176 lbs / 80 kg ✅
190 lbs / 86 kg ✅
205 lbs / 93 kg ❌

Clean & Jerk:
230 lbs / 104 kg ❌
234 lbs / 106 kg ❌
234 lbs / 106 kg ✅

3/6 attempts made, but finished strong when it mattered. First meet, first place, and plenty more work to do. Trust the process. 📈🏋️‍♂️

These boys left their mark (literally….Braden’s butt sweat is proof) on their very first USAW meet. Both placed first for their weight class and they came in at #1 and #2 highest totaling lifters for boys youth division today. The objective, hit their openers and have fun. Now both are qualified and heading to California for the Virus Finals in December! Congrats boys! Great day for Leopard Lifting.

@youlovelucero Lucero’s first weightlifting competition could’t have gone any better we are both super happy with how it all went down. Lots of exposure and lessons learned. The standard has been set and it’s our job to exceed them. Looking forward to what we accomplish in the near future ! Builtbeast Weightlifting is looking good @builtbeast_wl

As always a huge thank you to @camargo_oly @olyconcepts for running yet another successful competition.

We will see you next time ! You can always count on us to show up 💪🏼
