Since November 2025, I have had the honor of being a part of UCF STEEL’s Ride Engineering Competition team, specifically contributing to the mechanical team. This past weekend in Hershey PA, the team placed fourth in the east division, a great achievement for the club and for the ride we have created. Our ride, Leviathans Lair, went levels above prior years’ design and manufacturing, including its fully custom-built metal assembly.

I would like to give a special thanks to Joshua Meier for being such an exemplary leader and mentor towards all of us this year. Skills I have gained in fabrication, design, drawings, maintenance, and manufacturing, will be invaluable to me in the future. I also want to thank Charlie Wickham for his work in putting together such an amazing competition.

It was an amazing experience to learn and grow this year in Hershey, and I can’t wait to come back next year and go even further!

2 and a half months until the stories of the new “portals” are brought to life. I am very proud to be a part of the Universal Epic Universe Opening Team that you will probably won’t get to experience in your career anywhere else again in your lifetime. I just want to thank the Lord for giving and opening this incredible opportunity for me to be a UO TM at this upcoming new park 😃 😃. Are you ready to play today?

It has been an amazing professional experience for me to learn about the history of Fun Spot America, while also learning about how the park technical services staff conducts maintenance inspections for all 28 rides and attractions in the park. Fun Spot has the most flexible career opportunities available to get assigned to the whole park's attraction portfolio and learn the tools of the trade for working the mechanical systems and the ride parts behind the scenes. It was amazing for me to see the maintenance room for White Lightning, learn about the go karts, and tour the back-of-house maintenance bay. It was an awesome time.

On Saturday 13th April, Ride Engineering Competition Inc returned to Carowinds for an exciting event that challenges engineering students from various universities to design and create innovative amusement park rides. During the competition season, teams are tasked with engineering and constructing their own amusement park rides within specified parameters, such as size and safety standards. Each year features different ride styles from roller coasters and water slides to Ferris wheels and other thrill rides.

A massive thank you to our sponsors for supporting the initiative; Carowinds and ADVANTIS GmbH and for our judges for volunteering their time
