this week on the pod: brett stern

a former collegiate tennis player at uc irvine and the university of florida, brett spent years chasing the dream of becoming the best in the world. after dedicating most of his life to tennis, stepping away from the sport meant losing not only competition, but also the structure, identity, and purpose that had shaped him for years.

in this conversation, brett shares what the transition out of athletics really looked like — from leaving tennis behind and briefly attending law school, to eventually finding his path in the family business, where he's spent the last 30 years building a meaningful career.

we talk about the challenges of redefining yourself after sport, the skills that transfer far beyond competition, and why finding community during times of transition matters so much.

brett's perspective is thoughtful, honest, and a powerful reminder that life after sport doesn't have to be figured out all at once
