My relationship with comedy has moved from competition to friendship, winning to surrender. It’s a wrestling with God that can be a battle, always ending in laughter and joy, but sometimes wrought with tears. It’s complex and beautiful, but I’ll always love it nonetheless.

Shoutout to AWANA and the family that raised me to be a workman not ashamed!

“Laughter is an outward expression of joy and joy is life.”

urlove.lyah was a pleasure to talk to about her dreams, aspirations, and overall zest for life! We went to UCLA to ask about dreams, purpose, and laughter!

“We’re alive to experience joy.”

See you tomorrow UCLA, where we answer the question, “Why keep telling jokes at all?”

Mike Menendez booked me on my first big show at the Improv Space, which became a home for burgeoning standups at UCLA. I’m headed back to UCLA on Saturday to perform a new hour I’ve been working on, which is very much a retrospective on why I keep telling jokes. I’m returning to stand-up, Mike never left. He’s brilliant and I can’t wait to see him.

Kiley Chang, another friend who was part of the UCLA days, will also be opening the show along w/ Maggie Kwan from Shenanigans Comedy Club at UCLA.

“Some day, somebody will care, and that somebody will be you.”

I’m excited to tell the story of how I survived all these years and lived to tell the tale. I’m grateful to have the help of friends who’ve taken the time along the way to care so deeply about the art of telling jokes.

Someday, somebody will care — and that somebody is you.

Today’s piece of purpose is a letter from me at 21 to me at 17. It’s about pain, patience, and the person who helped me put the pieces back together. His name is Jesus.

Music by: @saintsimmons.wav ft. Jacob Thornton

Catch me live at UCLA.

Tickets and info in bio.
