“I was born and raised in Tijuana, Mexico. I always wanted to go to college; however, I didn’t get the opportunity to do so.
I came to live in this country, got married at 20 and had two children. I enjoyed being a stay-at home mom, but the desire of going to college never died down. So, when my children were teenagers, I enrolled in community college and then transferred to @UCLA. Never, in my wildest dreams, did I think I would be attending such a prestigious university.
My two years at #UCLA were not easy. English not being my primary language made it very challenging, also having two teenage boys that required me to take them to all their extra curricular activities, took a lot of my time. Another hardship was the fact that I had to commute all the way to La Mirada. In spite of all these, I managed to graduate with honors in 2001 at the age of 41. I’m living proof that it is never too late to make your dreams come true.”
