🟡UC Merced vs. Merced College🔵

We asked the questions. They gave the answers. 🎤 The Hub Merced sits right between both campuses, so we had to ask.

#WENTKAPPAWEDNESDAY⚜️

Today, we are highlighting a sister and the story behind why they chose to run home to Kappa. That sister is…Ka’iulani Rivera Tuitavuki ✨ Ka’iulani is a 3rd year standing as a 4th year Anthropology major from Fall Klass 2024, who served before as our Philanthropy chair. When asked about kappa and their experience, they stated her experience in Greek. This is what they said! 🩵

“Being a part-time student my first year at UC Merced, I knew I wanted to find something that pushed me to grow and helped me feel truly connected.

At first, I was really apprehensive about joining a sorority as someone who is non-binary and doesn’t fully conform to traditional gender norms, even though I present more femininely. I wasn’t sure if Greek life would feel affirming for me. I wondered if I would have to shrink parts of myself to fit into a sisterhood.

But in Kappa, I found the opposite.

My sisters have not only accepted me, but they have loved me, uplifted me, and recognized my identity in ways that truly matter. They see me for who I am. I’ve never felt like I had to shrink myself to belong in Kappa.

I went to Kappa for a sense of belonging, and I found a home away from home. Along the way, I gained lifelong friendships, leadership opportunities, confidence, and a version of myself that feels stronger and more sure.

I’m proud to say I went to Kappa because Kappa has allowed me to grow into myself without ever asking me to be anything less. 💙”

Kappa dearly holds you deep in our heart and see your accomplishments!!! 💟
