If you have Federal Work-Study as part of your financial aid offer, you may be eligible to earn money through a part-time job while you're in school 👀

❓What happens if I don’t use Work-Study in the year it was awarded to me? If unused, the Work-Study award will be lost and will not be offered in the future.

❓If I don’t earn the entire Work-Study award amount this year, does the money carry to the next year? No, your Work-Study award does not carry over to the next year.

❓Will my Work-Study be disbursed with the other aid I have accepted? No, a paycheck will be issued bi-weekly as you work your Work-Study job. It will not automatically pay towards your tuition and fees.

❓What time period can I earn my Work-Study funds? Between the first day of Fall quarter through the last day of Spring quarter. Work-Study funds are not available during the Summer.

❓Do I have to spend my earnings on tuition and fees? No, you are free to spend your earnings as you wish.

❓How many Work-Study hours can I work a week? You are allowed to work up to 19 hours per week (up to 39 hours during Winter and Spring break).

❓Are jobs on-campus or off-campus? Both. You can get a job on-campus or a job that accepts federal work-study off-campus. All Work-Study approved jobs are posted on Handshake.

❓Will UCR find or place me in a job? Students are responsible for applying for and securing their own Work-Study jobs.
