BEYOND THE LETTERS: LUKA GEORGE
—————————————————————

Every fraternity has letters, but it’s the people behind them who make each chapter what it is. With our new Beyond the Letters series, we’ll be highlighting members of the University of Cincinnati IFC community and sharing the stories that make our community what it is.

Our second Community Leader feature is Luka George from Sigma Phi Epsilon. Luka, is a Fifth year and is majoring in Finance with a minor in professional sales. On campus he is involved in the Student Alumni Council and serve as a Roar Tour Guide. Within SigEp, he served as the Vice President of Recruitment and Chapter President, as well as President of the Interfraternity Council.

When asked what’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned through Greek life?, Luka recalled:
“Is to be intentional. College has a way of constantly pulling your attention toward the next thing. The next exam. The next internship. The next leadership position. The next weekend. Greek life taught me to appreciate the moment I was actually living. I have tried to be intentional with every relationship, every opportunity, and every conversation I’ve had throughout college. Some of the most meaningful moments of my college experience were never things I planned for. They came from being present enough to recognize them. College goes by incredibly fast. You don’t get these four years back, so don’t spend them constantly waiting for what’s next. Be where your feet are, and invest in the people around you.”

When asked what impact do you hope to leave on the University of Cincinnati community?, Luka replied:
“The biggest impact I hope to leave behind is something I call “Motivating the Middle.” In almost every organization, there is a group of people in the middle. They have the ability to make an incredible impact, but they haven’t necessarily found the confidence, purpose, or motivation to fully buy in. I’ve always believed that if you can reach those people, you can transform an organization. As a leader, I’ve tried to make it my responsibility to find those individuals, give them a reason to care, and help them realize that they have more influence than they think they d

Honoring the heroes of 9/11 together as an IFC community. 🇺🇸

Today, members of the University of Cincinnati IFC community climbed over 2,000 stairs at Nippert Stadium to honor the brave men and women who sacrificed everything. Each step served as a reminder of their courage, sacrifice, and the importance of standing together.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
