Happy National Dance Day. It’s important now more than ever to not only encourage women’s sports but recognize dance as a sport. Dance is a universal sport, meant to be enjoyed but all. Having been apart of the dance world for many years, I can say I have witnessed my fair share of doubters, and heard many opinions. “How can dance be a sport?” “It’s not like dance is hard” “Why.” I have heard “why” and have heard “no” to many times to count. Why is dance a sport? A dancer is just as athletic if not more athletic than a football player. An injury is just as damaging to a dancer as it is to a basketball player. No sport should be superior than the other. But every sport should be equally recognized for its individual achievements and accomplishments. It’s so important to embrace a “lesser” sport, we are not just dancers. We are athletes. Strong, confident, capable, talented, resilient, powerful, determined, and more. Congratulations to all who celebrate National Dance Day.

Two days ago we locked the door on our 5-bedroom Vermont house for the last time.

Today, everything we own fits into these bags.

I spent months worrying about what we could pack. But somewhere in the middle of the chaos, I realized the most important things were never going in a suitcase anyway.

Vermont gave me confidence, lifelong friendships, dance, resilience, and memories that will always feel like home.

Spain is our next chapter.

I’m grateful for the one that got us here.

Every Friday and Saturday morning, a group of moms and working professionals trade the daily hustle for the dance floor. We run businesses, manage households, and juggle a million things, but for a few hours a week, we choose us.

Tucked away in Vermont is Unity Dance Complex (UDC). It’s an absolute powerhouse of a studio, packed with insane talent and choreography. But hidden inside is this adult hip-hop crew. We’re a found family who would have never connected without this space.

We are led by Sarah. She’s incredibly humble, so I’m shouting it for her, she gets the grind because she’s living it right alongside us. She channeled all the heavy, high-energy chaos of life into this badass piece to Brandy’s What About Us?

Saying goodbye to this is hard for me (hopefully only a year!). I know there is dance all over the world, but it’s not THIS studio, it’s not THIS team, and it’s definitely not Sarah. I’m going to miss this huge part of my life more than words can say.

To every woman trying to reclaim her passion, find a hobby, or just dance with zero judgment: find your crew. Don’t lose yourself in the hustle.

Here is a piece of our final performance. 🖤🔥

I forgot how much I missed being part of a team.

There is something about dancing, learning choreography, and getting uncomfortable next to people who are ridiculously talented that makes you remember you are still allowed to try new things in your 40s.

Adult hip hop crew era is humbling, sweaty, slightly terrifying, and honestly one of the best things I’ve said yes to.

Riley and crew 802 killed it this weekend! Not only did her team come in 1st overall but her duet with her dance bestie Franklin was 4th overall AND they were the only ones to choreograph it themselves (in my basement…in between super Mario kart LOL) sorry to my coworkers when I come in with no voice from screaming my ass off!!!! Thank you @udcvermont for creating an amazing community and space for creativity, positivity and imperfectly awesome and fire dancing!!!

Happy International Dance Day to all of the amazing dancers out there. And remember Timothée Chalamet wouldn’t have a job without ballet, opera, and theater😉

I went back to what I love—dancing. 🪩
No announcement. Just action.

Now my girls want to do it with me—and teach me.
That’s the shift. That’s progress.

And yes… the boys loved it too. Happy 😃
