The start of this year has been eventful, to say the least. As a young organisation, we absolutely welcome this growth….and as you know, with growth comes many lessons!

If your in a growth period with your own business, you might resonate with some of our lessons from the start of this year:

〰️ Balance is a myth when you’re building:
This cuts against the popular “work-life balance” narrative.
Someone on our team shared how they used to believe balance was possible - because that’s what we see others show online

But when you’re building, honestly, balance isn’t really an option.

You have to go all in and if you’re going to do it, do it!

〰️ Understanding each other:
Working flat-out with the same small group across multiple projects taught us how we each work as individuals - our strengths, weaknesses, friction points, communication styles.

Learning to hold space for that, and to quietly cover for each other, was as important as any project skill.

〰️ Perspective from others:
Meeting people from completely different parts of the country, like rural KZN for example - gave us a kind of exposure and perspective that’s hard to get any other way.

It reinforced something we believe at the core of everything we do……

behind every platform
every service
every solution
is people development

We’re in the business of people 🖤

Would we do it again? YES! Without hesitation!

Wow. What a day! ❤️

One of our guests shared with us that as the day progressed, she found herself connecting with people she never expected to.

She had the most interesting conversations.
She cried alongside strangers. She laughed with strangers.

That is such a big part of what we hoped TEDxGeorge Women would create.

A space where people from different backgrounds, communities and walks of life could come together, be curious about one another and connect.

Yesterday, we watched that happen.

There’s so much more we want to share from the day, but for now...

Thank you to everyone who came with an open mind and helped make the room what it was.

Since launching in 2024, TEDxGeorge has grown into a platform for connection, conversation, and the sharing of ideas that inspire action.

We’ve seen significant increase of interest in TEDxGeorge, not just across the Garden Route, but nationally and internationally 🌍

Each year, we bring together thinkers, creatives, entrepreneurs, professionals, students, and community members from across the region and beyond - creating space for local voices to be heard, meaningful connections to be made, and new ideas to take root.

As we continue to grow, we’re inviting local businesses and organisations to be part of the journey.

Our micro-sponsorship opportunities have been designed specifically for small businesses who want to support the TEDxGeorge community in an accessible and meaningful way.

We’re looking to partner with organisations that can:

Hey George 👋

It’s been a little quiet from us lately, but we’re still here - working away behind the scenes as we prepare for TEDxGeorge this August.

Life has a way of pulling us in different directions. Between work, family, responsibilities, and the day-to-day pressures we all carry, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, or simply not quite where we’d hoped to be.

And that’s exactly why we brought TEDx to George.

Yesterday, the TEDxGeorge team attended the @thegeorgechamber monthly networking evening - a space that brought together local leaders, businesses, and community voices.

Hosted at the @coreoffice Furniture warehouse, the venue was transformed into the perfect gathering space, with locally curated food by The Delicious Monster adding a distinctly George touch to the evening.

We had the opportunity to speak with Johannes Jumat, Chair of the Business Chamber, and asked him what it means to “Rise” and what the George community means to him.

His response stayed with us, and we loved it when he shared “We invite all to be part of it….to make George even greater than it is.”

It’s a sentiment that reflects what we continue to build through TEDxGeorge…..a platform shaped by people deeply invested in the growth, identity, and future of this community.

Thank you to the George Business Chamber, Core Furniture, and The Delicious Monster for a fantastic evening.

Yesterday, the TEDxGeorge team attended the George Business Chamber’s monthly networking event, and it felt especially meaningful being hosted at the @outeniqualifestylecentre

We couldn’t miss the opportunity to say a heartfelt thank you to one of our 2025 main sponsors @outeniquasuperspar

Not only did their team sponsor catering for our BMW Salon event, but they also stepped in at very short notice to support our main event.

With ticket sales increasing close to the event, additional catering was needed - and they came through without hesitation, even on their busy trading day.

Local support like this means everything to us!

❌ TEDxGeorge runs entirely on partnerships, with 100% of ticket sales going directly back into the event and local suppliers - our core team and staff are all volunteers.

We’re incredibly grateful to work with local partners who believe in the power of ideas and community.
