BASED ON TRUE STORY 🍒🏆🔏📝 SCARY CHERRY COMEBACK STORY.

Cecil Cherry—known across the gridiron as “Scary Cherry”—lives by a creed that defines both his athletic career and his walk in life: “big-time players make big-time plays in big-time moments.” From the dirt roads and citrus groves of Florida all the way to the pro ranks, he has lived up to every single word through pure grit, unshakable faith, and a relentless work ethic. Through every storm, test of character, and mountain placed in front of him, Cecil has shown the world what it truly means to rise above the noise, stand ten toes down, and conquer adversity on your own terms.
★
Cecil’s roots run deep in the heart of talent-rich Polk County, Florida. From an early age, he was blessed with the steady guidance and wisdom of his mentor and godfather, Larry Wilson Sr., who poured into him and helped mold the discipline, mental toughness, and maturity needed to navigate life both on and off the field. Cecil was an absolute physical phenom, stepping onto the Frostproof High varsity roster as an eighth-grader and turning heads across the state by aggressively tackling elite prep backs like future NFL talent Karlos Williams. By his junior year, he earned First-Team All-Area honors from The Ledger after racking up 82.5 tackles and 4.5 sacks in the regular season alone, which earned him a coveted invitation to Nike’s prestigious “The Opening” prospect finals in Oregon among the nation’s premier recruits.

Today, I salute Chris Johnson—not only for the great player he was, but for the husband and father he is.

The statistics were remarkable. But his life, courage and love for his family are the real proof. Chris, you and your family are in our prayers. 🙏

Someone may doubt your ability.
Someone may tell you you’re not qualified.
Someone may underestimate what you can become.

Don’t become one of the doubters.

My time with the Houston Gamblers taught me that someone else’s opinion of your potential does not have to become your reality.

Keep showing up. Keep creating opportunities. Keep proving yourself.

LESSON FROM MILE 199:
DON’T GIVE UP ON YOURSELF.

Because it’s NEVER2LATE to prove what you can become. 💙💛
