#Fungi play a critical role in maintaining healthy ecosystems.🍄‍🟫

They recycle nutrients, form beneficial partnerships with plants, facilitate communication through mycelial networks, assist in reducing environmental pollutants, and provide valuable nutritional benefits.

Understanding fungi helps us better understand the foundation of life in our soils. Illustration of various stylized mushrooms in a field under a text asking, "What does a mushroom do?" with a prompt to "Swipe to find out" and an arrow pointing right.

📚🔙As students across America head back to campus, Ambassador Blanchard reflects on her recent visits to @clemsonuniversity, @auburnu, @uflorida, and @tamu — four of the nation’s outstanding land-grant universities.

🌽🔬These institutions, and land grant universities across the country, are driving agricultural innovation and food-security research that aligns directly with the work of the UN’s Rome-based agencies @FAO, @worldfoodprogramme, and @ifad_org. 🇺🇸 U.S. academic excellence and international efforts to end hunger make a powerful partnership.

Here’s to a new school year!

Alexis arrived in May, and somehow these few months have flown by. In just two short weeks, she’ll be heading into her next adventure, and we are already going to miss her so much. 🩷🥹

She has been an absolute joy to have at Easy Tree Nursery. I’ve never met a young lady who loves bugs quite like Alexis does! Her curiosity, passion, and excitement for learning have been such a refreshing reminder of the bright future ahead for horticulture.

We need more students like Alexis in this industry — individuals who bring a strong work ethic, creativity, ambition, and a genuine desire to learn. Watching her dive into projects like experimenting with beneficial nematodes (biological control) and scouting plants in the nursery has been so rewarding.

And of course, while scouting, she manages to capture some of the most beautiful butterfly photos on our Lil’ Series butterfly bushes. 🦋🌸 Her attention to the little things is what makes her special.

Alexis, we are so proud of you. Your future is incredibly bright, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things you accomplish. Thank you for sharing your talents, your enthusiasm, and your love for horticulture with us here at Easy Tree Nursery.

You will always have a place here. 💚🌱

☀️ From the Sunshine State to the global stage. Ambassador Blanchard visited @uflorida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences to explore how Florida’s world-class agricultural research can help American farmers and fulfill President Trump’s vision at UN food and agriculture institutions.

🌽 Land grant universities know that food security is national security, and that less wars start when people are well fed. UF’s work on drought-resilient crops, water management, and food systems innovation is central to U.S. priorities at @fao , @ifad_org , and @worldfoodprogramme.

Three Cheers for the Florida Youth Institute and Florida Teachers Institute! 🙌🙌🙌

High school students joined UF for a week of exploration food systems and food security, visiting research labs all around campus to see ways UF is working for sustainable futures, and potential degrees and careers paths! 🌾🌽🐄🌶️🌻🧬🧫

They visited us to talk sustainable agriculture, plant pathology, and biotechnology with plants! Plant Science Ambassador Jaylene shared about her work with cellular research, alumni Mason shared about his work in the plant pathology lab, and students foraged for blueberries and flowers, along with other hands-on adventures!

The Florida Teachers Instituted came to learn ways to incorporate plants into hands-on activites for student, and got to connect with out local Space Plants celebrities, Drs. Ferl and Paul!

Dear APS Graduate Student Committee 🌱,

It's that time of the month again to get engaged with each other! This time we are having a special episode with the American Phytopathological Society Regulatory Plant Pathology Committee. We will have a panel discussion with Regulatory Plant Pathologist who would be sharing their experience about;
- What the regulatory arm of Plant Health entails?
- What skills are needed to prepare for a role in regulatory plant pathology?
- What opportunities are available in the regulatory world?

There is a lot to learn outside the conventional plant pathology we do as graduate students. We will also have a Q & A with the panelist where you get to ask about all the regulatory intricacies surrounding Plant Health. Here is an opportunity to learn how to turn your research discovery into implementable tools that provide solutions to growers and the world at large. YOU DON'T WANT TO MISS THIS!!!

For more updates from the APS Graduate Student Committee.... Follow us here on LinkedIn and on Instagram (@plantpathgrads) to be part of all we do!

We hope to see you next week... remember #PlantHealthIsYourHealth🌱

Such a fun day at Fifield Hall! 4-H students from across the state came to test their skills in Plant Identification and Vegetable Judging! 🌺🌼🌱

Then a team of FFA students from Colonial joined us to practice their presentations for Agricultural Issues and Parliamentary Procedure! 👩‍⚖️Both their teachers are amazing UF Alumni!!! 🐊🐊

Then FFA and 4-H all got a nibbling tour of our Horticultural Sciences Teaching Farm, harvesting and snacking on blueberries, tomatoes, sunflower seeds, and even fresh asparagus!!! All while chatting about agronomy (@uf_agronomy), plant pathology (@ufplantpath ), ornamental horticulture (@uf.horticultural.sci), and more!

Thanks to everyone for exploring Plant Science at UF!
