Lyrics for Painting the Roses Red by Mont Sombre, taken from Montrograd (2026).
Montrograd is the latest album from Australian rapper and producer Mont Sombre, delivering a distinctive blend of Aussie hip hop, underground rap, alternative hip hop, lo-fi, trap and trip-hop from Perth, Western Australia. Released in 2026, the 13-track album showcases Mont Sombre’s eccentric lyrical style, dense wordplay, dark humour, pop-culture references and sharply observational storytelling. Tracks including “Chalk,” “The Prettiest House,” “Daintree,” “Emily Rodda,” “Magma Grunt,” “Painting the Roses Red,” “Montius Pilate,” “Pyramid Head” and “Bluff Knoll” create a bizarre, irreverent and highly individual Australian rap landscape that moves between comedy, surrealism, bravado and introspection.

Blending Perth hip hop, Australian underground rap, lyrical hip hop, experimental rap, alternative rap, lo-fi beats, trap influences and psychedelic trip-hop, Montrograd is a left-field rap album built around personality, unconventional songwriting and relentless lyrical density. Mont Sombre’s approach combines Australian cultural references with international pop culture, sport, mythology, literature and everyday observations, creating a uniquely chaotic Aussie hip hop identity. For listeners searching for new Australian rappers, underground Australian hip hop, Perth music, independent rap, alternative hip hop and experimental rap, Montrograd offers an uncompromising introduction to one of Australia’s more unconventional emerging rap voices. #Music #Lyrics #MontSombre #AustralianRap #AustralianHipHop

@alicashiusjr comes from that tradition where being an MC still means putting out your best work consistenly. Detroit sharpened the edges, while his Puerto Rican and Yemeni roots gave the voice its own texture, but none of it ever feels worn like a costume. There is intention in the way he rhymes: confidence without forcing it, substance without preaching, and the kind of technical control that comes from somebody who genuinely respects the craft. He belongs to that lineage of artists who understand that bars are more than clever words. They are fingerprints.

The music carries the patience of somebody building his own lane, equally comfortable around battle-tested lyricists, underground rooms and records meant to simply knock. There is something timeless about that approach. Trends move, algorithms change, eras get renamed, but a sharp pen and an unmistakable voice still translate. Ali Cashius Jr. sounds like an fierce MC because he never stopped thinking like one. Still droppin 🔥. Check him out on Shade 45 thanks @dainphamusamadeuz 🫡
