"Total Stunning Serious originates from my love of kitsch and the necessity of escapism from the overwhelming stress of the lockdown, allowing me to paint fully from my subconscious as an attempt to offload the stresses that I couldn’t handle. As of now, the series has challenged how I consider composition, colour, mark-making, and scale in ways I had not initially set out to explore, and while still having fun. Inspired from a variety of reference sources (such as film, luxury fashion, social media, etc.), my works snap a metaphorical photograph of what’s on my mind at a given time and transform into a visual curation of my mind, which hopefully one day sneak into someone else’s psyche."

The second image is a painting of two chickens staring at a metallic gray-coloured hand holding a wire basket. The third image is a portrait-like painting of a frog in a cowboy hat against a pink, daisy background. New Space, Old Place: Meditations on the Everyday is a collection of paintings by four students, Natalie Robinson, Izzy Data, Talia Malkowich and Sophie Boutsakis which revolves around the prosaic- each artist drawing inspiration from the over familiar, mundane environments which are then reconfigured to express the unseen of those spaces.

Check out the show in Zone Four from feb. 7-22, by Media Recourses. Zone Four was FKA the Faculty Gallery, but now a part of the Student Exhibitions Space!
