Ch-ch-ch-changes! ⚡

Well, here we are. Another evolution!

If you’ve been around a while, you’ve seen us through a few transformations. From 9 Main to 9 Mobile, through a pandemic, to The Po Cafe, and now The Cutler Collective.

But looking back, it all makes perfect sense.

The Po was never just a café. It was a gathering place for neighbors, artists, writers, musicians. We opened exhibiting and selling art. We organized events, celebrated poetry, and made some extraordinary connections.

One of those connections began during Washington’s first annual Poetry Month, when I reached out to a poet named Robert L Arnold (@defiance13_). A poem became a reading. A reading became a friendship and a collaboration. And that collaboration became a couple books, with another on its way from a major publisher.

Meanwhile, the art never stopped. From my family’s first Art Walk at Flirtation Farms to the walls of The Po, our fall Art Walk on the lawn, and most recently an unfinished Bethlehem barn transformed into a gallery in six days, the ideas just kept coming.

When we closed The Po, I told you it wasn’t the end.

I meant that.

Welcome to The Cutler Collective.

We’re building a creative business around art, books, exhibitions, publishing, and collaborations that bring people and ideas together.

You’ll still see some familiar faces, the farm, the flowers, and probably a little bit of everything in our stories. But this page is now home to the work of The Cutler Collective and the creative people who make it possible.

To everyone who’s been part of this journey, thank you. And to the artists, writers, and dreamers out there, we’re just getting started.

Same spirit. New chapter.

Stay with us.

Adèle Flamand-Browne: “Caryatid”
March 21 – April 14, 2024

In March Arcadia Contemporary presented Adèle Flamand-Browne’s first exhibition, “Caryatid,” a new series of works that delved into themes of identity and the human experience. Using graphite and carbon pigment, Flamand-Browne captured transient, unposed moments with a stark range of values and intricate mark-making, blending traditional techniques with modern emotional depth.
Adèle Flamand-Browne recently completed her BFA at Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts. Her education at a figurative-based fine art academy fostered her dedication to drawing and painting, focusing on large-scale charcoal drawings and oil paintings that explore the significance of line and form.
Since “Caryatid,” Flamand-Browne has participated in Arcadia’s 10th Annual Five and Under Exhibition, relocated to Washington, D.C., and accepted a major large-scale commission through the gallery. Currently, she is working on a series of sketches and smaller works that will evolve into her next body of larger, more developed pieces. Arcadia Contemporary plans to showcase her new
works at the inaugural Scottsdale Art Fair in March 2025.

Adele Flamand-Browne moves away from traditional portraiture to focus on capturing fleeting moments that blur the lines between posing and genuine expression. Her choice of medium with various combinations of graphite and carbon pigment stems from extensive experimentation. Her studio practice is a process that combines her love for drawing and painting. Emulating a stark range of values, delicate mark-making to deep shadows often seen by processes in etching and lithography.
