This year's Young Alumni Medallion recipients were Dr. Dallas Ehrmantraut ‘16, ‘20, ‘26 and Emily (Paulson) Schmidt ‘15. We are incredibly proud of their numerous accomplishments and commitment to excellence. Dr. Ehrmantraut named Chris Mahoney and Dr. Mitchell Wolden as his faculty mentors and Kim Ash was named as Emily's faculty mentor.

This year's Knight Award was presented to Arthur Hebert, a junior from Beaumont, Texas. Arthur is a member of the Jimmie Football team and is very involved in the arts at UJ.

In our latest Holding the Ladder in Sport and Leadership podcast episode, I sat down with good friend Dr. Dallas Ehrmantraut, orthopedic physical therapist, professor, researcher, and Director of the Pro Bono Clinic at the University of Jamestown (ND). Another year of record enrollment 📚

The University of Jamestown has reported the highest enrollment in its history, welcoming 1,842 students during the 2025-26 academic year—a significant increase from approximately 1,600 students the previous year and twice the University’s enrollment just 12 years ago.

The milestone reflects more than a decade of strategic growth at UJ, driven by continued investment in innovative academic programs, graduate education and flexible learning opportunities designed to meet the changing needs of students and the workforce.

🛠️ACLR vs. ACL Repair🧵🪡⁉️

〰️In this Knee SIG Resident Review, we are excited to have Gundersen Health’s Sports PT Resident, Ryan Schrock ( @rschrock19 ), review a 2025 hot topic paper from Knee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy (@kssta_journal ).

🧵🪡Modern ACL repair gets athletes back to sport about 1.4 months faster than reconstruction (9.6 vs. 11 months), with a higher overall return rate.

🛑✋However…The downside? Repair failed 4x more often (9.8% vs. 3.3%) 💥🥴

🤔Interestingly, laxity outcomes were nearly identical between the two - only a 0.14mm difference in anterior tibial translation, which may not be clinically meaningful.

🏃‍♀️🏃🏃🏼‍♂️Activity levels post-op was also comparable.

💭Ryan’s Takeaway💭:
“Repair offers a quicker return by preserving native tissue and avoiding donor site morbidity, but reconstruction provides better long-term stability. Patient age and activity level are critical factors - younger athletes (<21 years old) showed significantly higher failure rates with repair.” - Ryan Schrock, DPT, CSCS
