POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Dear Diary,
Checking in from the road, just a week left to go of travel and musical happenings.
Some snapshots of the lovely times we’ve been having. One of the greatest parts about traveling in this way is the heart connection of catching up with long kept friendships and making new bonds that are just the beginning of longer conversations. No one has been a stranger. We’ve experienced lots of big ears and hearts when we get to share our music- even the folks who were hoping we were a country band ended up having fun, 😂
We’ve been appreciating the different styles of dance communities, different styles of music jams at the festivals. It’s a bright flame that pushes back at the edges, burns away at the darkness. Our spirits are all high. We’re feeling inspired to do & learn more, to set the bar higher together. Lots of leaf peeping. Cold mountain stream baths. Being cold and loving it under down blankets. Fresh water from the side of a mountain. Maple Creamies. Eggplant parm from HOP, extra sauce. Cider Donuts. Salami from @macechasmfarm lots of kitties. Moses. Kids. Art making & collections to be admired. Sea shell critters. Bathtubs. Wood stoves. Making meals and actually getting to sit down together. Polenta on a campfire. Feeling blessed, full & ready for the next chapter. Hope to see you soon, ♥️, and giant Thanks for all the love & support- can’t find words to express the magnitude of my gratitude…….
PS- Give it up for my band!!!!!

UJAC’s annual summer benefit! This year they’re throwing an honest-to-goodness shindig. Featuring performances by local and guest musicians, a silent auction of treasures (from local artists and businesses), door prizes, a mac and cheese cook-off and more! It’ll be a laid-back afternoon of good times, in support of future programming at the Lounge.

Sunday, August 23rd (2-4pm)

Featuring musical performances by:
Sheep Shank Magnus: Sheep Shank Magnus plays in the grey sand that lies between the musical genres. Faithful followers, they are. Chasing the next groove. (feat. members of Nubble Gene Baritot, Chris Radey, Christian Eggleston with Jon Ignatowski)
Isaac Newcomb: Isaac plays with texture and introspection, groove and self-deprecating humor in his unique flavor of alternative pop. His warm vocals nestle into soundscapes that blend synthesized and environmental sounds:
Special Guest Ali McGuirk: Ali McGuirk delivers a solo set highlighting her trademark soul sound with rootsy turns and raw rock ‘n’ roll detours.

To enter the mac & cheese cook-off: Email info@upperjayartcenter.org to let us know you’re bringing it so we can make space, bring at least 8-10 servings of your special mac & cheese, and bring a list of ingredients (for allergy avoidance).

Come tell your story at the next HOWL Story Slam! Join us at the Upper Jay Art Center on Thursday, May 7th, at 7pm.

Now in it's 10th season, the HOWL invites people from across the region to tell true stories, no notes and no props, live on stage in 5 minutes or less. The theme is "What's my line?" Stories about lines in a play, being stuck in line, lifelines... if it's about a line, it's fair game!

The first 10 storytellers to sign up will get to perform, so arrive early. For more information, visit ncpr.org/howl.
