Gemworld Munich (October 22-25, 2026), part of the Munich Show, offered a myriad of coloured gemstones to visiting trade buyers from Europe and beyond.

This year, apart from a vast offer of rubies, sapphires and emeralds, and other gemstones, one of the exhibitors, Bangkok-based Madagas Gem offered Paraiba tourmalines from Ethiopia, a recently discovered origin for Paraiba, displaying mainly smaller gemstones, treated and untreated.

A panel discussion featuring Arya Marafie, owner of Mayfair Gems, and Jewellery Outlook Editor David Brough, on October 23, 2026, looked at key drivers of coloured gemstone markets.

Recent coloured gemstone auctions had signalled well-supported markets for rubies and sapphires, Mr Marafie said. He said the jury was still out on the quantities and qualities of Ethiopian Paraiba tourmalines that would enter the market.

Paraiba tourmalines are much sought-after, with their marketing boosted by celebrities and social media campaigns.

Exhibitors at Gemworld Munich spoke of rising tourmaline prices and attractively priced offers of morganite. #colouredgemstones #tradeevent #gemstonemarket #markets #marketinsights

We had a great night at the NAJ Awards💎🍾

This year we sponsored Collection of the Year, and Amad presented it on stage. The award went to Giovanni Raspini for New Iconic 2026. Congratulations to them and to everyone on the shortlist!

Jewellery is what we specialise in, so nights like this matter to us. It’s where we catch up with clients, meet new people, and hear what’s actually going on in the industry.

Thanks to The National Association of Jewellers @uknaj for having us, and to everyone who stopped to chat.

8th October was festive, noisy and full of fun, despite it being a Thursday and despite the usual British autumn drizzle. And at the @uknaj Awards there were prizes, recognition and plenty of reasons to raise a glass — and, of course, lots of meetings and interesting conversations.

This year I made it to the finals again, but this time in two categories at once — “Designer of the Year” and “Collection of the Year”. In the Collection of the Year category, @lenaginarium_com received a Highly Commended recognition from the judges for “Hidden Garden”. And I think I’ll allow myself to celebrate that once again 🥂

What can I say? Hearing such lovely words about your collection spoken from the stage feels very unusual. And very, very nice. Even for the second year in a row.

By the way, people are now almost confidently pronouncing the name Lenaginarium. Although I’m still wondering: what about Terry Gilliam’s wonderful “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus”? Surely people had the same problem with that?))

And then came congratulations, new introductions and conversations you didn’t want to end. I love evenings like this for the chance to step out of my cosy little studio-burrow for a while and see just how much interesting stuff is happening around me.

Thank you so much to everyone for the support and congratulations! And now — back to the new collection. I need to give them another reason to practise the pronunciation, especially since next year’s ceremony will coincide with the NAJ anniversary.

8 октября было празднично и шумно и весело, несмотря на четверг и осенний британский drizzle. A еще на @uknaj Awards раздавали награды, признания и поводы поднять бокал, ну и, конечно же, это время встреч и интересных разговоров.

NAJ rising star of the year! 💫

This time last week it wasn’t even in the realm of possibility that I would have been on that stage. To say I’m shocked is an understatement. I am so so so grateful to everyone that has helped me throughout my time in the industry to get me to where I am today and who have supported me every step of the way.

@susannahlovisjewellers Suzi you took a chance on me almost ten years ago to come and experience you insanely gorgeous shop and since then you have helped guide me in how to get into this wonderful industry and cheer me on. Your encouragement and belief in me is something I will never take for granted. 🫶

@thatdarnclaire since meeting you only in the last year or so your instant support for me has been unwavering. Thank you for encouraging me to even suggest to put my name forward for this ⭐️

@wday123 I love you 🥰

Mum and Dad you have been and always will be my biggest cheerleaders. I warned you that you would be the only non industry people at the awards but you were adamant you wanted to be there to celebrate me even just getting a nomination. You continue to amaze me in your blind trust in me that what ever I set my mind to I will achieve. I will forever endeavour to prove you right! ❤️

@charlotterosediamonds thank you for putting me forward for the award and writing the most beautiful testimony. Thank you for being my friend not just in industry but outside of it. You are now more of a sister then a friend and I will never take your kindness and support for granted ✨

Congratulations to all the winners and the nominees it was such a lovely night to celebrate with so many people who are just as passionate about the industry and the impact they want to have in it. It was an honour to be named alongside you.

My students brought me flowers the next day and told me I was an “award winning gemmologist” this is one of the coolest accolades I have ever been given thank you @uknaj for making it possible to say such an insane thing!

She’s a winner baby! 🏆

What an incredible evening at the NAJ Awards! 🏆✨

Last week, the Woods team travelled to Birmingham for the National Association of Jewellers Awards, where both Matt and Rebecca were finalists! 💎

🔨 Matt was shortlisted for Workshop Professional of the Year, while Rebecca was shortlisted for Rising Star of the Year.

Although neither took home an award this year, we’re incredibly proud of them both. Being recognised alongside some of the industry’s most talented professionals is a huge achievement in itself. Congratulations to all the winners and finalists! 🥂

Run a jewellery-making workshop at Birmingham Jewellery Biennial 2027 ❤️💍

We want everyone who comes to the festival to be able to make a piece of jewellery every single day in May. Expressions of interest close on Monday 2 November. A few things worth knowing if you’ve not yet submitted 👇

💎 You don’t have to be in the Jewellery Quarter. Your workshop can be anywhere in Birmingham, and makers and organisations from outside the city are welcome as long as the workshop happens here.

🔨 No venue yet? Get in touch and we may be able to connect you with one.

💎 You can charge. We expect most workshops to run at commercial rates.

🔨 There’s no set format. It could be stacking rings for beginners, paper jewellery for families or a masterclass for the trade. If people are making jewellery with their hands, we want to hear about it.

💎 It’s only an expression of interest. Tell us who you are and what you’d like to run. We won’t need the final details until January.

Find out more and submit at the link in bio.
