“For 20 years, I never thought that the military was my calling in life, but that all changed in January of 2026. I was searching for something bigger and a greater sense of purpose in life. That led me to the doors of the University of Kentucky’s Armory. This past year has opened up so many opportunities that I otherwise would not have had if not for ROTC and brought me people who motivate me to do better and be better every day!

When I joined Army ROTC, I was so unsure whether being in a sorority would be a great fit for me when it came to balancing academics, ROTC, and then sorority stuff on top of that.

But oh I was wrong…

Delta Zeta gave me the biggest support system I could have ever asked for. It gave me my Big, Katie and my Aunt, Kaitlyn, who showed up to my Basic Camp Graduation this summer, it gave me Lily, who truly became one of my best friends who support me through and through, and most importantly it gave me 300 sisters who are worth fighting for.” @franzhineguloy

25 years ago today, our country lost nearly 3,000 patriots.

This morning, my team and I gathered at the University of Kentucky’s morning vigil to remember them, the families still carrying that weight, and the first responders who ran toward danger and lost their lives as well so that others could live.

As someone who served, I know what sacrifice looks like and what duty means. And as someone who was a school kid, sitting in a park in DC next to the U.S. Capitol on a class trip on that terrible day, I know I owe a special debt of gratitude to the brave men and women of United Flight 93, who likely saved my life, as well as countless others.

We must never forget those who gave everything that day.
