This one's tough to write.

Going into the European Outdoor Championships, I had some of the best preparation of my career. Equipment was dialled in, the form changes I'd sacrificed my entire indoor season for were finally coming together, and my mental programme was in a strong place. Excitement was high.

Then, on the first night of competition, I got food poisoning from the hotel. Due to previous complications with my digestive system, it hit me harder than it might otherwise have — I could barely keep myself upright. But I was determined to compete and see it through to the end.

I'm home now, feeling great, and already focused on what's ahead. The season isn't over.

Long weekend with the national squad, unfortunately it ended with a withdrawal from the competition on Sunday. Qualified in P1 first round of head 2 heads but I pulled something in my shoulder. I wasn't able to hold the pressure on the back wall. With the European outdoors 2 weeks out I played it safe and pulled out.

Hardest thing for any competitor to do is withdraw, but bigger things to come.
