The Ulm5 are suffering severe repression while in detention IN GERMANY! Even pre-trial detention itself is unacceptable. In Germany, pre-trial detention can be justified by reasons such as the risk of evidence tampering, flight risk, or danger to the general public. However, this requires valid justifications. We would like to take this opportunity to remind you that the Ulm5 are 5 people with no prior criminal records and fixed addresses in Germany, who filmed their own action, released a press statement, and waited for the police, even though they could have fled the scene of the crime.

The entire process, including the conditions of detention, is a scandal!

The trial of @theulm5 remains one of the greatest injustices of Germany since its founding date. Not even being able to properly talk to their lawyers in person, handcuffed, locked up and being confined behind a glass wall during the trial, they remain graceful and a shining emblem of resistance in times of military killings with German weapons just like the white rose members did in German history.
Each of them a white rose inspiring us.
The court tries to hide the truth about the compliance of Germany in the genocide and states a showtrial.
Our activists did not stay silent or inactive and neither do we.
But the truth cannot be hidden!
The truth cannot be confined!

Yesterday marked the anniversary of the direct action the activists known as Ulm5 took against Elbit Systems in Ulm.

For one year, they have faced harsh conditions, human rights violations and a completely disproportionate (show)trial — where they have to sit in a high security glass cage in court, unable to communicate confidentially with their lawyers outside the glass wall.

As a protest action to raise awareness, a group of concerned citizens placed a glass cage in between Cologne Main and Cathedral station — with various performers sitting inside for hours (both referencing the 22-23 h h the Ulm5 are locked away every day and their trial taking place behind glass).

Some performers wore mouth folds, alluring to the silence of other European states in face of this blatant show trial.

An info booth was setup nearby to inform bypassers of the various violations, irregularities and harsh conditions the activists face during this trial.

Yesterday, 8th September, on the anniversary of the arrests of the Ulm5 activists.
We stood outside the German Embassy in London, we listened to Nicole, the mother of Zo Hailu, one of the 5 activists currently held by the German state as she spoke about the ordeal of the five brave young activists while being held by Germany.

She also spoke about how they are resolute in their convictions and their dedication to the liberation of Palestine.

She expressed her gratitude for the support of the Irish people and the Irish TDs that travelled to Germany and questioned - where are the British MPs ?
She also expressed her gratitude to @blmuk for their support.

Inspired by the Poem "These are not bars" by Crow, this painting depicts the times of unbreakable spirit of the Ulm 5 outgrowing any kind of confinement, using it as climbing aid for their strong will and spirit. Their presence is inspiring and their actions are understood as part of the resistance, symbolized by depicting them as white roses. In Germany the white rose is a well-known emblem of resisting fascism and murderous regimes. The leaves amd roots of the olive trees and the leaves and roots of the roses are connected. Violence against civilians is violence against humanity. Daniel, Leandra, Crow, Zo and Vi stand united in the protection of innocent lives in Palestine. And we stand with them! Free the Ulm 5!!

14th August, Outside the German Embassy in London in solidarity with @theulm5
We were joined by Daniel’s mother who spoke to us explaining the hand sign that is being used to symbolise the Ulm5, a simple 🫶 gesture, that is impossible to do when tightly hand cuffed, so it is a broken heart.

Also sharing with us a 120 year nefarious history of the Telefunken/Elbit factory in Ulm, Germany.

A big thank you to Daniel’s family for coming along and sharing with us, it was an honour to have you with us.
