It’s flag hunting season 😈

The office decs are coming along nicely - much to Izzy’s despite 🤣

The flags are only tokens of the hard work that’s going in daily. That’s where the real glory lies.

Don’t expect things to happen over night. Be ready to put the work in for months / years. Because that is what it takes.

Showing up consistently, adapting where needed, being patient and just always moving forwards 🙌🏻

I’m riding a high right now, but with highs come lows, it’s only natural. But even in the lows, I’ll keep turning up and doing what’s needed to win that day.

Because hard work always pays off eventually.

You’ve just got to be consistent and patient enough to get through the lows so you can ride the highs.

Oh and having a doubles partner like @jay_endurance goes a long way too, machine 👊🏻

Onto Hyrox Oslo we go 🇳🇴 T- 5 days 🏃🏻‍♂️

Onwards & Upwards 🚀🌕

Little run trough the @ultimateathlete_ workout session at @birkenheadventureboxing yesterday! Nearly killed me 🤣🤣💪

21 May: 3rd minor heart surgery.
Seven weeks into a 12‑week rehab I hit a massive setback that knocked me flat. Four weeks of recovery, a reset on diet, supplements and training, and the meds that finally did their job — and I started moving again.
Huge shout to Marlena — she did 75% of the workouts and never let me give up. Together we took on the @ultimateathlete_ event. Fourteen weeks after my last race, with only 6–7 zone‑2 sessions in the bank, I crossed the line. It wasn’t pretty. It didn’t feel right. It felt honest. It was confusing..
To everyone who showed up, thank you. To anyone fighting to get back, keep going. ✨🏃‍♂️💪 #RecoveryJourney #Resilience #AthleteLife #Gratitude

New Instagram.
New chapter.
Same real story.
Before anyone sees the race finishes in this video, they need to know where I actually came from. Not the medals. Not the PBs. Not the coaching.
The real beginning.

I didn’t grow up in a clean, disciplined, structured life. Before the UK, my world was full of addictions, chaos, bad habits, bad environments, and bad decisions. I lived fast, I lived reckless, and I lived in a way that should’ve ended badly long before anything else did.

But life had one more hit lined up for me.
Sepsis.
The thing that nearly killed me.
The thing that forced me to face everything I’d been running from.

I shouldn’t be here.
I shouldn’t be racing.
I shouldn’t be coaching.
I shouldn’t be building a community.
I shouldn’t be standing at finish lines with people who trust me

But I survived.
And when you survive something that should’ve taken you out, you don’t waste your 2nd chance.

Fitness saved my life.
Not just physically — it rebuilt my mind, my discipline, my identity.
It gave me purpose, direction,a reason to fight again.

And fight is exactly what I did, even though still suffering with health

I train. Rebuild. Changing. Becoming someone my kids could be proud of. My athletes could rely on
Someone I never thought I could be.
From that moment, the journey exploded:

- Triathlons — from sprint to Ironman
- Ultra runs — distances I never imagined I’d finish
- Marathons & half marathons, 10ks
- HYROX & Hybrids — doubles, singles, relayacross Europe
- Fighting — the discipline, the mindset, the control
- A community I never expected to lead

Every finish line is a reminder of one thing:
I shouldn’t be here but I am.

My mission now is simple:
To help people.
To motivate people.
To show that no matter how dark your past is, no matter how messy your story is, no matter how many mistakes you’ve made — you can still build a life that makes you proud.

I’m not perfect.
I’m not polished.
I’m not pretending to be something I’m not.

I’m just a man who survived, rebuilt, fought back, and now wants to be a role model for anyone who feels stuck, lost, broken, or done.

This is my journey.My comeback.

4th is better than 5th and that’s all that matters 🏁
@ultimateathlete_ flag has arrived and it’s been pinned to the new home gym as a little reminder to keep pushing when things get hard in the pain cave!

I have been hacked and lost all my social media accounts. This previous personal account was 17 years old so it'll be impossible to rebuild everything but let's slowly get back to it!

💥 ABOUT ME
Strength in Body & Mind. Legacy in Every Step.

My name is Slav. I’m the founder of One Step Closer and CbdFit—two businesses built on transformation, resilience, and community impact.

I’m a personal trainer, HYROX coach, class instructor, and HybridNW ambassador with 13 years of coaching experience and 20 years of personal fitness evolution. I specialize in legacy-driven fitness: blending technical precision with emotional depth, ritual, and comeback energy.

---

🧠 MY MISSION
Fitness saved my life. Twice.

- First in 2006, when I escaped addiction, anxiety, and street life after arriving in the UK with £70 and a suitcase full of CVs.
- Then again in 2021, when I survived near-death experiences and weeks of septic shock.

I’ve battled PTSD, depression, asthma, heart failure, and immune system collapse. And I’ve come back stronger—mentally, physically, and spiritually. That’s the energy I bring to every client, every class, every race.

---

🥋 ATHLETE & COMPETITOR
I’ve evolved through nearly every fitness identity imaginable:

- Weightlifter → Strongman → Bodybuilder → MMA fighter → Muay Thai & BJJ competitor → Ultra runner → Ironman triathlete
- 25× BJJ medallist, including British Open Champion
- Finisher of multiple Ironman races, ultramarathons, obstacle runs, and endurance events
- Competitor in Thai Boxing, MMA, and over 100+ running, swimming, and triathlon events
- Hyrox
- Enhanced DBS certified to work with children, teens, and adults

---

🎓 QUALIFICATIONS
I hold a wide range of certifications, most of which I practice daily with clients or myself:

- Level 2 & 3 Fitness Instructor & Personal Trainer
- Hyrox foundation & Level 1 Coach
- Nutrition & Naturopath Diplomas
- Clinical Weight Loss Coach
- Raw Food & CBD/Cannabis Diplomas
- Massage Therapist
- Pilates Instructor
- Yoga Level 3 (in progress)
- Self-Defence & Boxing Padwork Coach
- Kettlebell & MMA for Fitness Instructor

Dear diary day 248

I can't believe that was last week🔥
First race together in a while 😉 ❤️

This one meant so much more than just completing a race. After heart surgery, this was my hubby’s first race back, and watching him push himself, give it everything and absolutely smash it was something I’ll never forget. 🥹❤️

We laughed, struggled, encouraged each other and crossed that finish line together. Seeing how far he’s come makes me unbelievably proud.

Not just my husband, but my teammate, my inspiration and my ultimate athlete. ❤️

What a comeback. What a day. What a team. ❤️

👇🏽 Client Spotlight 👇🏽

A moment of appreciation for client Dan and the progress he’s made in such a short time

Initially Dan joined the team wanting to improve his overall fitness whilst also wanting to PB in some hybrid races booked.

Not only has Dan shown improvements across both strength and endurance, he has managed to drop just under 10kg whilst implementing structure around his training weeks.

In terms of hybrid events. Dan has managed to PB everytime he’s raced this year and earned himself a place on the podium in last weeks @ultimateathlete_ coming home with a flag 👏🏽

All of this started with the desire to be better and unlock his potential.

If you’re sick of going through the motions and want to take your training serious…
