Last weekend I headed to Philadelphia for my book tour to take part in @cookbooksandconvos where @sisterlylovephilly @highstreetphl pairs authors with local restaurants for some fun events. @jelliottblake who is the best travel partner joined for an impromptu girls trip.

To celebrate my new book, we had a gluten-free high tea service in collaboration with @flakelygf who baked recipes from The Art of Gluten-Free Bread. I was surprised how many people who were not GF came out to support us. Was so lovely to connect with everyone.

The following day, I had a book signing at @bindingagents in conversation with @moroccochris . Had a great time chatting with Chris and meeting everyone that came to listen to us. Some came from quite far!

I had been around Philadelphia before but this was my first time exploring the city. I’m obsessed! How did I not know how beautiful it is? I had heard that Philly people are loud and rowdy (which I can totally appreciate btw!) but we also had some sweet interactions with people on the street. We met Desmond as he was sweeping his stoop and talked to us about the history of his home. Incredible. We didn’t get to see all the things on our list so I can’t wait to go back.

Got to stop by one of my favorite shops and friends of my books @shopvestige Had delicious meals/coffee at @littlewaterphl @surayaphilly @persimmoncoffee @a.kitchenphilly @parcrittenhouse @thedandelionpub

Thank you, Philly!

Yesterday's Sip & Chip Lunch & Learn, our business seminar on flavor strategy - brought crunch + fizz + flavor.

Why it works: Chips are delicious and oily; bubbles cleanse the palate so flavors actually interact.

What we poured & paired:

🥔 🍋 Sea Salted Chips x Zero Lemonade - like oyster brine + fresh lemon

🥔 🍑 Mesquite BBQ x Zero Peach - peach rounds smoke + warm spice

🥔🔥 🍊 Jalapeño Heat x Zero Blood Orange - bright citrus matches aggressive heat

Principles: complement vs. contrast, hops can emphasize heat, consider seasonality.

Thanks to all who joined! Want to talk growth strategy/training via experiential moments? DM us.

Felt so good to be back! We want to share a big THANK YOU to the entire team @Emmettphilly for a truly special weekend back at 161 W. Girard. We couldn’t have asked for a more supportive or gracious group of hosts, or kindred spirits in our common passion for flavors, hospitality, and plate ware! To boot, we got to see so many Cadence regulars and past team members (we’re sorry if we didn’t have a chance to say hello!), a testament to the strength of the community that continues to lift up small food businesses in Philly.

And what timing! A weekend back where our restaurant journey really took flight will propel us straight into opening our new project in New Glarus, WI, @canter_inn . Hopefully we’ll be hosting our own collab with Chef Evan, Julian & team in the rolling hills of Green Co. soon enough! P.S. If you haven’t checked out Emmett yet, make your way to Hancock & Girard for some seriously delicious flavors!
