Colour comes first at Boon, not last.

Olive. Oxblood. Terracotta. Parchment. Four references, not our own work, showing the palette we build every kitchen around, decided before a single material gets specified.

The same intention goes into colour as into an edge or a joint. It’s never decorative here. It’s structural to how a room is designed.

bookshelf storytime!! swipe ➡️

we ordered this @usmmodularfurniture shelf ages ago, before getting the keys to our place, based off our original floor plan. as renovations were ongoing, we adjusted the design of the study to include this slanted glass wall, forgetting that WE HAD ALREADY CUSTOMISED OUR SHELVES PER THE ORIGINAL WALL DIMENSIONS

so when the @proofliving installers arrived and told me the shelf was too long for the wall I had a mini crash out because WDYM WE MISCALCULATED THE SHELF SPACE 😭

thank GOODNESS the USM system is modular. After a bit of puzzling and measuring, they proposed reconfiguring the shelf and repurposing the spare parts for other parts of the house instead. CAN YOU IMAGINE IF THIS WERE A FIXED SIZE.

building a little table with the spare parts 😂😭

IT’S PERFECT!!!!!!!!!

We hadn’t gotten a coffee table yet because we couldn’t find one that sat quite right in our space. I seriously can’t believe how perfect this is. The happiest accident ever — and it looks so intentional.

There were still some spare panels and rods so we made a plant stand which is ADORABLE, and finally a place to display this zine I purchased over ten years ago!!! It’s called RUBBISH FAMzine by @holycrap.sg, a Singaporean family of four that makes print zines of their interests and stuff. This is issue one, which I got in 2013. I think this whole project is super cool and an incredible way to document a family’s changing consciousness and obsessions, which feels emotional and precious.

The best part is: the final shelf minus the 250mm column fit perfectly in my study!!! I still can’t believe how it all worked out and am SO thankful for how quick thinking the Proof Living installers were. I’m loving how it looks now but also happy to know I can switch it up in the future with different colored panels or configurations, bc I already did so once 😂

moral of the story, measure your walls properly. but also, perfect accidents do exist 😂 The end!

when the vision makes it out of google slides!!!!

the living room is finally coming together, HUGE MEGA IMMENSE thanks to our friends at @proofliving who did us a solid and helped flawlessly import our dream custom couch (we needed a commercial importing license to get it, which normal people obviously don’t have), a nerve wracking process that was totally worth it in the end 🥹💖

💒 this month our home a renovated monastery and art story @elledecorationfr

The journalist has a thing for renovated churches and monasteries turned into homes, and she was set on shooting ours. She waited patiently until we finally found a date that worked.

🌸 The shoot day at House of Novo was such a peaceful one. The photographer captured the light, the textures, and the feel of the koepel where I live and make my hand knotted fiber art.

Still a bit in disbelief seeing it in print. Grateful.

Thank you @laurencedougier @nicolas4matheus
