POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

Presented by UMSU Burnley, join us for a planting session and a shared meal.

Part two of our series on food, ethnobotany, and the people who carry plants across time.

This session turns to two grasses with deep histories on this land: Themeda (kangaroo grass) and Microlaena (weeping grass) — once staple grains, ground into flour and baked into damper long before introduced crops reshaped the landscape.

We'll start where growing always starts; hands in the soil, seed between fingers. As we plant, we'll talk and eat together, sitting with a question that runs through the whole series: what changes when we stop seeing plants as separate from us, and start seeing them as part of us?

RSVPs required and tickets are strictly limited.

📆 Tues 29 Sep, 5–7.30pm

Annual Elections are being held this week (7–11 September) to elect representatives who will be the voices of the University of Melbourne Student Union in 2027.

This year UMSU has returned to in-person voting, so unless you registered for an electronic vote, you will need to vote on campus.

A small gesture that meant the world to our community.

Following the devastating floods in Nepal, fellow students from Burnley UMSU reached out to MUNSS to donate freshly harvested Rayo ko saag. Receiving greens grown with love by our campus peers brought a deeply emotional touch of home during a heartbreaking time.

A huge thank you to Tom, Ian, and everyone involved for standing with us in solidarity.

If you would like to support ongoing flood relief efforts in Nepal, please check the donation links in our bio and stories!

Learning to cook with limited kitchens and delicious things you can cook if you only have a sandwich press and a microwave.

Delicious procedure from the Burnley campus market garden and presented by our member Persia.
