@aroundthecrown10k never disappoints, even when you fall short of your goal. Sometimes not getting what you want can help you to see what matters and how far you’ve come. ATC 2019 was my first race. I knew nobody and I was terrified. I’d never done 6 miles that fast, or without walking. I was afraid of getting swept. When I finished, I was just standing at the finish filled with emotions and no clue what to do with them. I took a couple photos, tried walking around, and eventually just left. This year, I did what is now just second nature. I walked back along the course to cheer people on. I started off being bummed about my race, but that only lasted about 200m. I don’t think I went longer than 2 minutes without seeing someone I knew. I can cry and make excuses about why I didn’t hit my goal, but it turns out that’s not what the weekend was about. I saw hundreds of my friends, made a bunch of new ones, met long time internet friends in person for the first time, and got a sweet medal. Kept my streak going of ATC, and had fun doing it. Love this race, and the community that fills it. #aroundthecrown10k #madmiles #runcltrun

Around the Crown 10k today! 👑 I have had this race on my bucket list for a while, and I’m just so happy I made the trip to CLT to run it and share the experience with the most special of friends. The course was challenging and fun, filled with the very best energy (I loved that last mile especially, and running on the highway while it had a massive and long hill, was also super cool!) and the start and finish line vibes were so wonderful perfect combo of easy and exciting.

My race was a little funky, after having a weird week (I am ok but had a systemic allergic reaction to a plant in my garden last week and was in urgent care a week ago today and on a not-fun medicine right now) so I was smart and careful and made it my priority to have fun and stay healthy which I absolutely accomplished and somehow even took 2nd place in my AG! I’ll share more tomorrow but wanted to get these into the grid 🤣!

Thank you so much @aroundthecrown10k and big props to really everyone in the Charlotte running community. Yall know how to make runners feel supported and celebrated!
