It would take a lot of fundraising to make Ms. Marks, a die hard Tar Heel, wear NC State and Duke gear…. But I guess for 30k reached she will do it! Today many Wolfpack fans were happy to see Ms Marks decked out. Tomorrow the Duke fans will be happy. 33k reached! We are almost to our 35k goal!

A little throwback to one of my favorite days from last year. 🥹🎶

My little brother has always loved marching band and percussion—especially snare and marimba—and last year he got the chance to spend the day with the UNC Chapel Hill marching band!

Marching band was such a huge part of my own life, and I was lucky enough to continue it in college at NC State. ❤️ Even though we’re Wolfpack fans through and through, I’ll always have a soft spot for our NC colleges and their incredible band programs. Getting to watch my little brother experience a little taste of college marching band for himself was so special.

And getting to spend the day with Grandmommy made it even sweeter. She was always there supporting me and my love for music growing up, and she’s done the exact same thing for my brother. Some things never change. 🥹

We may have left a little sunburnt, but absolutely no regrets.

Now my brother is a senior, which means this time next year he’ll be starting a whole new chapter—and hopefully marching with another college band. I can’t wait to see where he ends up and everything he does next. 🩵🎶

Two weekends, two massive stadiums, endless energy! 🥁🎺

Our MICS Marching Band has been taking the college football scene by storm over the last two weeks:

⛏️ UNC Charlotte (Sept 5): Our musicians hit Jerry Richardson Stadium for the 5th Annual UNC Charlotte Marching Honor Band, performing live during the 49ers game against The Citadel!

🐏 UNC Chapel Hill (Sept 12): Our 10th to 12th graders took over Kenan Stadium for UNC Honor Band Day, playing alongside the Marching Tar Heels during the home opener against ETSU. As a bonus, they even got to see Shaq, AKA DJ DIESEL as he pumped up the crowd during pre-game festivities! 🎧🔥

We could not be prouder of how our students represented Mountain Island Charter School in front of tens of thousands of fans. A huge shoutout and heartfelt thank you to Mrs. Ray for organizing these unforgettable, once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for our kids! 💙 💚Raptor Pride is real!
