Intense? I’m intense.

Easily overlooked metric and the easiest way to go about it is that your sets should be hard. It’s one thing to accomplish the sets it’s another for them to be actual work.

RPE - Great but can be a bit difficult, on the ground, to wrap your head around. What’s the difference between RPE 8 and 9 besides 9 is a little harder than 8? It’s useful when used appropriately. Ie how hard should this set of 15 be? Oh RPE 9? So hard as hell.

Heart Rate (HR)- Great metric for endurance and conditioning. Easily trackable with wearables. This leads into zones some. Wearable devices can be a bit inaccurate but they’ll get you in the ball park more or less. Necessary to adhere to prescribed HR whether that’s HR zone, % VO2, % of HR max, etc. as these can vary vastly and are specifically programmed to provide a certain stimulus an drive adaptation.

% of 1rm - One of the most specific and generally used for “big lifts”. These let us ride the line of volume and load in order to marginally progress our strength / power. A very useful metric and useful to know your 1rms in order to utilize this effectively. Typically follows something like a relative intensity chart or prilepin’s chart.

✖️… These Are The Days✖️
• These are the days you create your habits…
when you decide your reputation.
These are the days you raise your hand first, because
hesitation is for cowards.
These are the days you fail and
learn it over and over again.
These are the days you fall and
prove you can stand back up.
These are the days that you earn mine and
I earn yours.
Days like these… we earn it through labor.
I’ll never fuckin’ forget ‘em.
Cheers, boys.

Guess who is back at it again!!
One of the best mountain guides I’ve known and trusted adventure climber. Basically, when I climb with him, I know to really prepare physically and mentally. However for him, he is just enjoying the moment. @uncanna cubs cream is gonna be in my list after this!
