A little advice from the people who’ve been there before 💚

We asked our Teaching Fellows mentors to share what they’ve learned along the way — from getting involved on campus and making the most of your major to navigating field experiences, student teaching, and finding balance.

Swipe through for a few things they wish they knew sooner!

TEACHERS TRY THIS ⬆️ No prep/Low prep any grade/ any content idea to get kids out of their seats and turn a worksheet into a fun activity for the kids while getting them engaged and focused on the content.

That’s a wrap on the SNCAE Fall Leadership Conference! Role alike sessions, mindfulness, launching a statewide Paid Student Teaching campaign and quality conversations with other campus chapters made the conference a success. Thank you to all officers who came to Greensboro this weekend! We loved connecting with you! @neaaspiringed

State eboard nominations are currently open and will close on NOON this Friday, March 28. Please encourage your members, leaders, emerging leaders and/or folks you see potential in to apply for a position on the SNCAE statewide leadership team. Scan the QR Code or Click the Link in our Bio! https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScBxMdzNCDSZa99eKJHGJUuZBZEYHADLZkXfJCzLF9RGktZCg/viewform?usp=send_form

If you are a chapter leader, you do not have to resign and YES you can serve in both roles. Many of our eboard members right now are serving as presidents, VPs, etc. on their own school’s eboard.

Our goal is to prepare you for your futures as SUCCESSFUL educators and SUCCESSFUL LEADERS. The four core values are educator quality, community engagement, political advocacy, and social justice. By being on the state board, officers attend conferences, help plan the Fall Leadership Conference, Outreach to Teach service project, and the Spring Conference. Most importantly, officers help guide the direction of our aspiring ed program!

This is an image from our community forum tonight, where we worked to develop common goals among students (yes, students came!), community members, & school employees.
.
Teacher retention, the best teachers, smart teachers, teachers & not long term subs, building community: raising teacher pay will benefit students AND communities, not JUST teachers. I don't want it for me (I received a 17,000$ pay cut to move back from Massachusetts) I want it for THEM- the students and families I care so much about & do this all for.
.
YOU HAVE POWER. Join the 800+ Durham Public School teachers and the (idk how many) other #ncteachers on MAY 16 wearing RED at the legislator building in #raleigh to ask who they support: more $ for the rich, or for #publicschools ? Take a personal day - it's worth it, we all did, and they'll close schools if enough do anyway. And, let me know if you're heading my way! 😁
