The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) plays a transformative role in digital trade through its recently adopted Protocol on Digital Trade, which establishes a unified regulatory framework across the continent. By eliminating cross-border data barriers, prohibiting unjustified data localization requirements, and harmonizing electronic transactions and consumer protection laws, the Protocol simplifies intra-African e-commerce. This digital integration actively lowers market entry barriers for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and fintech startups, turning a historically fragmented continent into a single, cohesive $3.4 trillion digital market.

I had the absolute pleasure of speaking on the Law and Tech Panel, where we dived deep into how law intersects with rapid technological advancement in light of the AFCFTA particularly within the Nigerian ecosystem.

Whether it’s a high-stakes gala or a global awards night, your job is to make every guest feel like the only person in the spotlight even with a hundred cameras flashing behind you.

Here are 5 Pro-Tips for the Red Carpet
• 1. Do Your Homework, Then Forget the Script
Know every nominee, guest, and dignitary by heart. However, when they’re in front of you, put the notes away. Eye contact is more important than a perfectly phrased question.
• 2. The “Left-to-Right” Awareness
Always know who is coming down the line next. Managing the flow is a silent art; you need to wrap up one interview gracefully just as the next guest is stepping into your space.
• 3. Compliment with Substance
“You look great” is a filler. “This dress is beautiful, is it custom?” is a conversation starter. Move the conversation from the compliment to the achievement as quickly as possible.
• 4. Be the Calm in the Chaos
The carpet is loud and frantic. If you remain grounded and steady, your interviewee will mirror that energy, leading to a much more authentic and relaxed interview.
